    Sour tasting beer.

Since i took a gravity reading 2 days ago. I decided to take another today, and got the same reading. So i test bottled 5 bottles and will let those sit for about a week and a half. I tried another little bit and it tasted better. So i will probably give the rest of it another 5 days then take a...

    Sour tasting beer.

Yeah I try not to open it. But I have done it for this photo and for hydrometer readings. I will invest in a fermentation vessel with a tap in the bottom so when I take readings I don't let bacteria in.

    Sour tasting beer.

Is this infected? I compared to one's on Google but my one doesn't look too bad.

    Sour tasting beer.

All the foam had already dropped of by 4 days? The instructions the extract said no longer then a week before bottling? If I leave it another week it sounds like it will go rotten/bad.

    Sour tasting beer.

Yeah I just assumed store bought was a lot better quality. I think I'll leave it another week or so like the person above said

    Sour tasting beer.

Hi, Today i took a hydrometer reading of my beer after it had been fermenting for 4-5 days and it read 1.008. I also sneaked a sip and it tasted like beer but had a really sour taste. I found the beer drinkable-ish but I cant imagine feeling like much more after a small glass. Is this usual...

    No airlock on brew bucket?

Good to hear its going smoothly! Yeah it must of been because of the bung that it let out excess Co2. Best of luck!

First batch- No hydrometer for readings?

My neighbor lent me his hydrometer to use! Not to sure where to take the reading off as there is different scales around the hydrometer for measuring different things.

    No airlock on brew bucket?

Mine didn't make a mess until i used that small hosing that got clogged up! It now has a 10mm hose coming out of it and is working great!

    No airlock on brew bucket?

To be honest, it was my first time ever making a batch of any sort of alcohol so I didn't really want to go out and spend money on equipment without really seeing if its for me or not. My neighbor lent me a hydrometer to take readings with but I just thought that bucket would serve the same...

    No airlock on brew bucket?

Yup you were right!!! Just clogged up and luckily my dad caught it before it made a big mess. I bored out the whole in the lid and installed a 10mm rubber/plastic pipe. Hopefully that will not get clogged either. Thanks

    No airlock on brew bucket?

Here is what I have done. Some tubing running from the lid to a container of water. The froth coming through the hose due to over filling shouldn't matter right? The mess on the top is from when I just had a hole with nothing running/covering it.

    No airlock on brew bucket?

Yes, I was using a 5 gallon bucket, I will probably get a proper fermentation vessel in the future. But for now I'll take your advice with the plastic tubing from the bucket into a cup of water? Thanks.

    No airlock on brew bucket?

Hi all, My first batch of beer is in the process of fermenting. I didn't have an air lock so I just drilled a small hole in the top of the lid to let the Co2 out. My question is there's a lot of head/froth coming out of the hole as expected I guess because it is fermenting and I may of...

First batch- No hydrometer for readings?

Hi all, I just started making my first batch of beer from an extract can. I didn't buy a complete beer making kit with like the spoons, bottles barrels etc. I just brought an extract can, some brewing sugar and a 20L plastic bucket. I followed through the instructions with no problem. But I...
