I'm pretty sure it's mainly my water. I did over 40 extract batches with the same water supply (pre-RO though) and the majority of those batches were really good beer. I know AG is a different beast, but I've been troubleshooting and attempting to monitor sparge and mash pH, sanitation etc...

Oh I'd love to do this but I have not had a good batch in some time. My AG success rate is quite dismal so far, unfortunately. Hopefully Ive identified my issues.

Alright I'll add that to the standard cleaning procedure. I'm thinking a deep clean is imminent.

I should clarify, I did have a pulley / ratchet setup. My issue was my grain bag was in a metal basket, and for a ten gallon size. I had drained it but it was still heavy, and removing it from the hook I dropped it. Because of my hood setup, i did not have the best removal process. I couldn't...

I should add that I dropped the full grain bag once. Once. Back into the kettle. The wort geyser that resulted tested my GFCI outlet sufficiently. I never did BIAB again. Maybe I should have had a winch.

I do have regrets - mainly around handling the wet grain bag when removing it. If you're doing a 10gal batch or more it's going to be heavy. Couple that with one misstep and you've got issues. There are workarounds though.

Yes! In my case I believe I simply did not give the yeast enough oxygen to fully ferment, and I coupled that with unstable fermentation temps on some batches. Point is I've had more than a few solvent batches and wouldn't wish it on a fellow brewer. In my case it took a long time to progress...

How are you aerating your wort? I ask because I've had many batches go solvent like until I switched to oxygen. Previously I used an aquarium pump and stone. This is for 10 gallon batches, just for context.
