    It's not gonna stop....

I've got a brew going now that is ....really active. I put it together upon request of a buddy, he wanted real simple, just a "can and a kilo" type of thing. Anyhow, I brewed Tuesday, and it's still chugging along today. I mean 2-3 bubbles every 3-4 seconds. I rehydrated the yeast before...

    OK, OK I get it!!

I washed and regrommeted about 60 grolsch bottles yesterday, in prep for a bottling session. Learned a hard lesson about rinsing and covering the empties in the garage. All kinds of critters had taken up residence. Won't do that again... :mug:

    Final gravity reading, any thoughts?

I brewed a American from extract, starting gravity was about 1050, checked it today, as it has slowed, and looks to be about 1025. Yes, I drank the sample, it was good. A bit sweet, but not at all harsh in flavor. It is a little darker than I like, but I think the extract was a bit old. So I...

    Just can't get it right....

So I tried that cheap vodka in the airlock trick. I filled it up and checked the level, too high. So I drank the excess and checked again, Damn too low. You get the picture? It took me about three hours and a bag of Doritos to get it right. Now my head hurts, and I'm sick of Vodka. Next...

    Homebrew contest

We're having a homebrew contest up here this weekend, the title of which is The E.T. Barnette Homebrew Competition. Is anyone here participating? I'm not a judge, but I may have the opportunity to sample some of the entries (I hope). Anyhow, let me know, and I'll keep a lookout for your beer...

    Sounds like a good time

Woohoo! I've asked to be a steward at a homebrew competition in July. They said show up, get briefed and do a good job. This oughtta be great! Duhhh....what's a beer steward? I hadda look it up on the web. Wow, a lot of steppin' and fetchin', but still, a homebrew competition up close and...

    Youtube videos

Has anyone gone to this site and typed in homebrewing? There's about a ton of videos for this, one of them has 4 or 5 parts to it, and it's pretty good, almost makes me take the plunge to all grain. Anyhow, check it out if you get a chance.

    Proud Dad

My number 3 son wanted to do a brew with me. Yes, he's under age and under adult supervision, but I explained what was gonna happen, stressed cleanliness, and we started from there. It was a simple extract ale, with some DME and a bit of Irish moss, nothing fancy. Basically I just pointed and...

    A beer show?

How come nobody is doing a show on beer making and visiting homebrewers and such like that? I have seen the "Beerhunter" and it was okay I guess, but with the interest in homebrewing as it is, I would think the Food network or somebody would have a show on it. How would you pitch an idea like...

    Keg setup post 2

I hooked up my keg, the Pepsi guy GAVE me the connectors (nice!), and then carbed it. I was kinda dissapointed it hissed then stopped. I don't know what I was expecting. A day later, I found a leak. No C02, and the keg was non pressurised. It turned out it was on the connector for the tank...

    Finally!

I got my keg system. A paintball tank, hose, regulator and the Pepsi guy just GAVE me the fittings. I shot about 4 gallons of cleaner through it, and it works great! I'm so happy, I'm gonna drink a homebrew or two.:rockin:

    DOH! wait... WOOHOO!

I don't know where to post this, but I was looking for a quick brew project spending very little green and just came up with 2 gallons of apple juice, and some yeast. Apple juice was unfiltered and basically raw. I added a bit of corn sugar to boiled and cooled water, and added that. Checked...

    OK, now WTF??

Pardon my french, but here's a problem for you all to help me with please. Good light pilsner, pretty clear, minus the chill haze after the fridge, and a good carbonation but it fizzles out like a soda would, leaving no head, and there is a cidery taste. I know one must be sanitation, but the...

    Still chugging away

Hey I have a Pilsner going right now, and while it took a while to get cranking, it's been 3 days and still bubbling 1 every 5 or 6 seconds. Being as this was the first recipe ever with malt dextrin added at the boil (for me) is this why it's still going? I mean yoohoo, and all, but...

    Loooooong ferment?

Hey, I'm making a pilsner lager, and was wondering. What is the correct ferment temp? It took a long time to start, and then I hadda warm the area with a "lil Buddy" car heater (cold garage). Anyhow, after it gets bubbling, what do I drop it to?

    Carbonation issues

Can you carb with Nitrogen? If so, is it the same regulator as C02? This was probably asked before, but indulge me please...:drunk:

Not bad beer, just good vinegar...

Okay, this one hasn't happened in a long time (to me anyhow). I have a cherry wheat in mini-kegs and tapped one after a couple weeks. Worst beer ever... I have had malt vinegar on fish and chips that was not as strong as this. I tapped the other mini-kegs hoping it was a fluke. Nope..just...

A little help, this keg is heavy!!

I was just handed 6 of those 5 liter party kegs, and was wondering if there is a C02 attachment for pressurizing? I have used the kegs already for my latest beer, and found out I overprimed the beer before kegging. :drunk: That means this batch is self-carbonated, and I gotta keep an eye on...

    Mother May I...

Okay, I don't know if this is OK with you all, but to settle a bet with the spouse, could I ask you folks this question...Are you the primary manager of your particular business? Basically are you the HMIC?. Personally for me the answer is no. I just get paid for what I do.
