    Great Holiday Ale Extract Recipe

Wow, wow, wow! I kegged this yesterday and force carbonated. Yes, I sped up the process some. But wow this is good! My father-inlaw tried it, then went back for seconds. Said "you need to package this and sell it, liquid gold". FG came in at 1.006 which put me at 6.3% ABV. My best beer...

    My first BIAB, beginner question

Hi, i'm using an all grain recipe I found on this site. Recipe is below. Two questions. 1. Under mash profile it shows infusion 75 min @148, add 31.25 qt @ 165, sparge 35.75 @170 for 90 mins. For BIAB can I just steep all the grain at 165 for 75, then pull bag, squeeze and let it drain...

    Danby DAR440 CO2 Outside

I did the same thing today. I first placed a board underneath so I did not drill thru and hit the compressor. I then drill down and made a hole large enough for two gas lines. I then layered tape on the hole to smooth the edges, then pulled the lines thru! I am now up and running!

    Danby DAR440 CO2 Outside

Make any progress on this? I am doing the exact same build. I am thinking I will run a drill bit down thru and wobble it to make the hold larger as I need two hoses. I will then spray foam around the hose to seal the hold back up.

Spice, Herb, or Vegetable Beer Habanero IPA

So I made this one and have mixed results. First, I started with 2 habs in the boil at 15 minutes. Next, I added 4 habs to secondary fermentation. I soaked 4 habs in vodka during secondary then poured the tincture into the bottling bucket. My goal was a very hot IPA. I love the...

    Holding mash temps.

Maybe i'll give that method a shot on a test run. Ill bring it to 155, shut down and wrap. Monitor and unwrap fire up as needed.

    Holding mash temps.

Thanks for the replies! Not moving the wort is an issue as I cant run the propane in the garage and it is too cold out to maintain mash temp even with the reflectix. The initial move won't be bad as it is just water and certainly won't be 16 gallons. Once to temp I will bring into the...

    Holding mash temps.

I'm doing research now to plan a BIAB brew. My issue is I boil outside in a large bayou 16 gallon kettle on a propane burner. I have no issue doing full volume or bringing to a boil. My concern is outside air temps will be in the 40's. If my target is 155 I can bring it up to 170, then...

Not quite mush, but very soft. Within hours of racking to secondary the fermentation took off again and has been going since.

    Great Holiday Ale Extract Recipe

I found non preserved cider at a local produce stand. My bubbling action stopped so checked gravity, was down to 1.01 so decided to rack to secondary. OG was 1.055 Here is a pic when I opened primary,

    Great Holiday Ale Extract Recipe

Im going to move to secondary in about 2 days, my issue is finding cider without preservatives. I found some that says " <.1% Potassium Sorbate and/or Sodium Benzoate." I know both of these are preservatives, will that small of an amount <.1 cause any harm?
