    No Gas...WTF???

Did we warp back into the 70's? All over North Georgia it is damn near impossible to get ANY gas! I passed by 14 stations tonight that had NO gas and when I was finally able to find a station with gas, there was a $20 limit at $4/gal. Is this affecting anyone else?

Prost - LHBS in Athens, Ga.

I live in Northeast, Georgia and recently found out about the LHBS in Athens called Blockader. That place is awesome. First off, the guy working the store was incredibly helpful. I showed up to mill some grain and he set me up, even provided a sack to put the cracked grain in b/c I forgot my...

    Rough day - I need a beer

Late Sunday night I received a text message informing me one of my 12th grade students was involved in an accident and was airlifted to the trauma center in Atlanta; the prognosis wasn't good, but we were hopeful. Then on Monday news came that he had been declared brain dead and that there were...

Input on an Apple Cider Recipe - Thanks

My wife doesn't drink beer, so I cannot really share this hobby too much with her and it is entirely one sided. I'm thinking if I can make something she likes, then I might get a pass on future purchases...you follow me here? Ok, so I figured a nice Apple Cider that is tart and a bit sweet...

2nd AG Brew went much better than the first!

Thank you for all those who offered insight and suggestions after my first AG brew session that ended up in total failure. The first session I boiled off too much water and was off by a gallon going into the fermenter and had about a 56% efficiency. Then I found out the yeast I pitched was...

    Oh, how I loathe FedEx

I find it utterly baffling how a company can make a delivery on Saturday, but on Monday they "cannot locate recipient." I know it's not because I wasn't at home. I've been at home all day working in the garage with the door wide open. I haven't seen their truck in my neighborhood all day...

AG Equipment is coming at me from all over the US

I'm taking the leap into AG! I've got bulkhead fittings and such to finish my boil kettle coming from McMasterCarr in Atlanta, sight glass stuff (Thanks Bobby M!) coming from NJ, and AG Pale Ale ingredients coming from the midwest. Here's what I (will) have. Maybe you can double check my...

2nd Ever Brew and 1st Partial Mash - Success!

Update: I bottled this batch today. I was right on with the final gravity called for in the recipe. It would have been nice to put this into a secondary to clear up a bit, but I have no secondary at this point. I couldn't resist a tasting. The flavors were all there and it was very similar to...

Inaugural Beer: Brewed, Fermented and now Bottled!

All right, first batch is now sitting quietly in their bottles. My inaugural brew was an American Wheat, but I replaced the yeast that came in the can for some Belgian yeast in order to get the orange-like taste. I added a little honey in the brewing to have an orange & honey flavor. So far...

New Label for a first time brewer

While I'm waiting on this first brew to finish fermenting and all, I decided I'd dabble around a little bit with photoshop. Here's my initial effort. What do you think?

    New Brewer in Northeast Georgia

Hello all, I just picked up home brewing and actually have just put my first brew to bed for a week or so to ferment. Hopefully, it'll work out and I'll have a nice Belgian style wheat beer ready. The first actual brew was a bit overwhelming trying to learn the whole process, but I didn't have a...
