    Inline aeration (not oxygenation)

Thanks, could you explain how this would work? What would I need to do exactly?

    Inline aeration (not oxygenation)

Thanks, actually until now I've been doing exactly that - hanging it into the fermenter for 20 mins or so. But I wanted to try a new hard plumbed setup to do it inline. So the pump is plenty strong to push through the airstone. But I guess not strong enough to fight the chugger pressure. I...

    Inline aeration (not oxygenation)

Hi all, I'm looking for some advice on how to make inline aeration using an aquarium air pump work. I have a 2 micron airstone inline after my plate chiller. It's connected to my aquarium pump which has max pressure of 2psi. My problem is, unless I'm running my chugger at really low flow, the...

Drop in specific gravity from post boil to fermenter?

Thanks but no and no... I run the hot wort through the plate chiller and back into the kettle in the last 5 minutes of the boil so cant be significantly different in gravity. My refractometer has temp correction and is left just sitting on a table the whole time. I thought there might have been...

Drop in specific gravity from post boil to fermenter?

Hi all, so I just finished brewing a session ale. I use a recirculating biab system. At the end of the boil I took a gravity sample and was pleasantly surprised that it was right on the expected 1.043. I transferred to my fermenter via a plate chiller, aerated for 15 mins using an aquarium pump...

Help with ground wire installation (for RIMS setup)

Once again, thanks for the advice. I've clamped the ground wire down as per attached pic (ignore the plastic ties, they're just to hold the heater band in place while adhesive sets).

Help with ground wire installation (for RIMS setup)

Thanks a lot for the heads up. I ended up getting some high temp tape to stick the ground wire onto an exposed part of the pipe. So didn't need to use the silicone RTV.

Help with ground wire installation (for RIMS setup)

Thanks guys, I'm going to give the pipe clamp option a try and perhaps cover the connection area with some high temp silicone gel to protect from possible moisture. Regarding the power adequacy, I do 3 gal batches and have a 3000W induction cooker as my main heating element. I'll use that to...

Help with ground wire installation (for RIMS setup)

Thanks, I don't have a soldering setup unfortunately... Could I just use electrical tape to tape the ground wire to the RIMS tube/coupling?

Help with ground wire installation (for RIMS setup)

Hi all, I am putting together an external RIMS setup and need some help please on how to add a ground wire correctly. In summary, I'm going to connect a piece of 1" stainless pipe to two 1" x 1/2" stainless couplings and wrap this with a silicone heating band. I'll put some fibreglass header...

Heater strap to maintain mash temps

Thanks, valid points! I've got a 240v controller (live outside the US) and I recirculate. I thought about the concentrated heating but figured the recirculation might address this?

Heater strap to maintain mash temps

Hi all, I currently use an induction cooker for my BIAB system. Wanted to improve my mash temp control and saw the following product. https://m.aliexpress.com/s/item/1206756708.html I contacted the manufacturer who said this can get above 100c temps. My idea is to use the induction...

Help getting seal on stainless steel fusti

Dammit! So I've tried various sized and thickness orings and this thing still wont seal properly. Does anyone have any other ideas (I really want this to work)? Or am I flogging a dead horse...

Help getting seal on stainless steel fusti

Sorry about that! Yes the lid threads inside the neck of the container. I can see how those pictures might be confusing! I have the lid sitting upside down on top of the container in most of those pictures. I might still try and get a smaller o-ring that fits inside the neck of the container...

Help getting seal on stainless steel fusti

Thanks MaryB. I think that's what the original seal that came with the fusti is trying to do. If you look at the pics I uploaded there is one with the original white seal in place (on the lid that is upside down). Were you suggesting something different?

Help getting seal on stainless steel fusti

Thanks, do you mean a smaller diameter o-ring or a thinner one? Or both?

Help getting seal on stainless steel fusti

Hi all, So I've been using a stainless steel fusti (Sansone model) as my fermenter. It works great, nice internal welds, easy to clean etc etc. The lid screws down and has a rubber gasket to form a seal. Only thing is it doesn't seem to hold a completely airtight seal. I've tested it lots...

Purging/flushing pumps and lines with C02

I thought of doing this but wonder if the starsan is going to get all mixed in the with the beer (because of the filter) rather than just being pushed out first followed by the beer?

Adding a new gas post to a stainless steel lid?

Hey jackly, did you up trying this out? Did it work ok?
