Poll: Do you have, or plan to get, an electric car?

Sorry if it was unclear but I wasn't referencing anything in your post. In fact I agree with everything you said. Just happened to be musing about how often I read the truck range thing around the web.

Poll: Do you have, or plan to get, an electric car?

Reading the interwebs one would get the impression every pickup truck driver takes their vehicle daily to the maximum extent of the range, nonstop cannonball run style. While also towing something heavy.

Poll: Do you have, or plan to get, an electric car?

Speaking of moved goal posts I feel bad for the people that bought hydrogen fuel cars hoping the infrastructure would improve. It was bad enough they had only 59 total stations in the US but Shell recently announced closing another 7 and pulling out of that business. In 2014 had briefly...

Poll: Do you have, or plan to get, an electric car?

Up until a couple years ago not enough for us out here. Now though there are plenty of chargers even for early adopters with smaller batteries and less efficient motors. Tesla owners anyway.

One book to rule them all

One book? If thats the question then without a doubt.. Technology Brewing and Malting by Wolfgang Kunze. Books written by homebrewers are often wrong. Better to get your information from where the degreed professionals learn.

Yea what kind of crazy car company would include a disable button to stop the rain sensing wipers in a car wash.

Alternatives to Worm Gear Hose Clamps?

A couple turns of electrical tape before clamping will protect silicone hoses from clamp damage.

I keep my car in chill mode specifically to discourage myself from doing dumb things.

The problem for hydrogen is that you will always be able to drive at least twice as far on a kilowatt of electricity directly in an EV then you could on the hydrogen made from that same kilowatt of power. Sadly there is no way around that.

Poll: Do you have, or plan to get, an electric car?

The price of hydrogen would have to be $3/kg to reach price parity with electric vehicles. It's currently over $30 in California where all the H2 filling stations are. In comparison it's about 15 euro/kg in Europe.

Yep.. that happened. Oh well. I guess I really didn't need to know.

Poll: Do you have, or plan to get, an electric car?

You mentioned your reason was the difference in price was 10 years of gas. I'm wondering what the calculation would be taking into account the savings in fuel cost and maintenance. That's it. Usually when all is considered the EV comes out less especially over 10 years time. Unless of course...

Poll: Do you have, or plan to get, an electric car?

I guess I was interested in the full calculation including savings in the differences in fuel vs electric cost per mile and maintenance savings. Over time these generally save more then the vehicle cost difference.

Poll: Do you have, or plan to get, an electric car?

Even if you take into account the cost savings on fuel and maintenance?

If you are into the engineering of it all Munro Live on youtube has teardown videos of most all electric vehicles and then they comment on the design and quality. I know they have done quite a few on the MachE.

Mash Caps... Let me see what you got!

On the cold side larger breweries are concerned with parts per billion of oxygen during handling after fermentation and package filling. Same malt flavor compounds being oxidized. In the Lodo world those with in-process oxygen sensors get concerned when we see anything other then 0.0 ppm on the...

Mash Caps... Let me see what you got!

I have the same brand cap as you show in your pictures. I have reworked the lip so that it makes it taller and more buoyant. Just works out with my kettle to have about ~1/16" all the way round so the cap wont drag and can easily follow the volume fluctuations due to temperature change, adding...

Mash Caps... Let me see what you got!

Mashcaps really do need to float freely with full contact to the surface of the liquid and not drag along the vessel wall. Doing what you describe is not helping reduce oxygen exposure in the least. You are not only sealing out air but also sealing it in. The result is a wash. Also consider the...

Poll: Do you have, or plan to get, an electric car?

My reduced loads panel just has the important stuff like fridge, freezers, beer cooler etc. connected. Forgot to mention the 8 kw of solar on the roof so in reality I wont really ever get to test the week calculation unless the sun were to turn off. Oh and I don't drink coffee. ;)
