    Priming Sugar When Kegging

My husband bought me a kegging system while I was out of town and kegged my second batch (it's a blonde ale). Anyway, he didn't add any priming sugar. I think he should have. Who is right? If I am right is there any way to remedy this and what effect will it have on my beer? TIA!

    Too Cold for Bottles?

My first batch is now in the bottles waiting to mature. I have them in a cardboard box in the garage. Of course, we got a crazy cold snap and I doubt it's warmer than 55 degrees in there. Should I move them inside (where it's probably 65)? Will they take longer to reach peak taste and have good...

    3 gallon pot?

In a 3 gallon pot you will not be able to get 2.5 AND all the ingredients. You'll be lucky to fit 2 gallons with all ingredients and not overflowing. The worries I had about doing that was how much of the hop flavor and grains were going to ba taken in by that little of water. At some point...

    3 gallon pot?

I had the same problem. I had 2 2.5 gal pots and had to split everything in half. What a pain! I'll be biting the bullet and getting a bigger pot before my next session. I can't tell you how it turned out because the beer is still sitting in the bottles, but I will say I wish I just had the...

    Sludge and Gnats

Oooh, I was wondering what to do with the "yeast cake". We have a septic system and I was kind of afraid to just wash it down the drain, but I will scrape that sucker off and feed it to the compost. Thanks for the reassurance on the bug.

    Sludge and Gnats

So I just transfered my beer from the primary to the secondary. First I noticed a dead bug in the liquid of my airlock. How nasty is that and how the heck did he get in? I would like to think I would have noticed the fella before so he must have crawled in. Should I be concerned? Also just...

    Bottle Tonight or Saturday?

Thanks for all the input. tmoney, glad to see I'm not the only lady brewer. When my husband bought me my beginner's kit for my birthday the guys at the shop didn't believe it was on my wish list. They thought he was buying a left handed gift. I figure I love to cook and I love beer, so why...

    Bottle Tonight or Saturday?

Alright. Wait I shall. I am a pretty good procrastinator in most things. Thanks c.n. I actually have one of those doodads that came with my kit and now I know what I can do with it! Melana, not from Mass. Brewinmama means I am a mama that brews. :D Okay, so if I manage to wait two...

    Bottle Tonight or Saturday?

Hi! I am so excited to bottle my first brew but I don't want to do it too soon. For the last 2 days my hydrometer has read 1.009 and the bubbling has definitely slowed to a crawl. My husband and I can bottle tonight OR we have such a crazy week we wouldn't be able to do it until Saturday...
