    Fixing fusels

I also ferment in a basement room that I can hold right at ~68 year round... I thought this was pretty good but during the exothermic log phase of fermentation, I can see the thermometer strip climb to 72 or 74. That's just too hot, according to Chris White of White Labs (thank you for the tips...

    Grain to water ratio ?

It works for me to use my own simple formula. i do 11-gal BIAB batches in a 20-gal kettle... I started wtih using 3/40 extra gallons per pound of grain, plus 1.5 gal for boil loss, and an extra 1/4 gal when there's a big hop bill. So, if I had a 25 pound grain bill, I'd use 11 gal plus 75/40...

    Beginning Brewer Kettle Happiness

I received a "deluxe" starter kit as a Christmas gift... with a "handy accessories kit" (thermometer, spoon, aerating paddle, hydrometer, racking cane, etc.) from my son, who is a home brewer. Along with a couple extract kits. It was so fun to have everything I needed to get started. We have...

    adding priming sugar question?

I think that sounds like an idea worth trying. You can buy the 'pills' that have pre-measured corn sugar to add directly to bottles. I am going to dose each bottle with the liquid corn sugar/water mix directly to bottles using an eye dropper or the like (need to shop a bit). I have been...
