Turbo Yeast (help) for White Claw Seltzer Knock-off

Yeah, I ended up CO2 scrubbing my sulfur bomb. By the time I was done I probably used more CO2 than if I'd just force carbed it.

Turbo Yeast (help) for White Claw Seltzer Knock-off

I've made a couple of seltzers with wine yeast, it worked well but I had to use gelatin or super kleer to get them to clear. I don't know about that much yeast, I used the 5g packets for wine yeast for a 3 gallon batch. You definitely want all that nutrient (I used energizer and fermaid O I had...

    Fast Souring - Modern Methods

Good to hear on the kveik. The wort thing doesn't worry me as much. Putting hot wort in a sanitized mason jar with the hops and a lid, then keeping in the fridge after they cool off is worth a try. If they get funky I can always do a hop tea or dry hop. I've saved apple juice in mason jars for...

    Fast Souring - Modern Methods

I've had this thread bookmarked for years and now I'm planning to do this (thanks @RPh_Guy ). I'm curious if anyone who's tried this has any thoughts. General process: 6 gallon no boil batch of 1.030 wort before chilling, remove 2L of mash temp wort, add 2 oz of Tettnang hops, set aside in...

Berliner Weisse Sour Cherry Berliner Weisse

I mentioned quarts in the ingredients, so they were 32 oz bottles. I will say to my taste, the tart cherry juice ends up with much more cherry flavor than regular cherry, which just tastes sweet. But it's been almost 6 years, I haven't looked if you can even get that same stuff at Kroger.

    Warm Fermented Lager Thread

Sure. The great thing about homebrewing, it's your beer, you can call it whatever you want.

Good Cherry Beer Recipes or Beers to Clone?

If you're up for a kettle sour and a lighter beer, here is one I made a while back. I liked it a lot, may try it again for the warmer weather coming up. https://www.homebrewtalk.com/threads/sour-cherry-berliner-weisse.638235/

    Where to get juice/cider?

I use the Kirkland Apple Juice from Costco mostly. Sometimes I use the fancy unfiltered stuff from the grocery store. Most apple juices will work, but whatever you do, look at the label and make sure it does NOT have any sorbates.

    Closed transfer question

I watch for beer to start up the gas line. Since I connect both the liquid posts and the gas posts and gravity feed, it's not a big deal for me if a little beer gets in the gas line.

Tell me what to brew next! (poll)

I voted Schwarzbier. IMO it's a year-round beer, despite the color it is a refreshing beer. I've brewed several, and I shy away from recipes like you see at the online retailers with 4 or 5 grains. What's worked best for me is around 85% pilsner, 10% munich, 5% Carafa III, with noble hops and...

floating diptube issues: problems, causes, fixes, solutions, etc...

Not to be "that guy", but I would not use copper in a fermented beverage. It's a bigger concern for more acidic drinks, but beer has a low enough pH to potentially cause copper poisoning. Your Cocktail Mug Might Be Poisoning You

floating diptube issues: problems, causes, fixes, solutions, etc...

Another problem I've had, I was getting some cloudy pours for the last 3 or 4 pints before the keg emptied. I think it was from having too long of a hose and part of it was brushing the bottom of the keg when the volume got low enough. I cut the hose so that the end would hang just above the...

floating diptube issues: problems, causes, fixes, solutions, etc...

I had a similar problem, adding the nut as a weight did the trick for me. Since then I've switched to the plastic filter ends, and haven't needed a weight. I can't remember where I got them, but this is what I'm talking about - Floating Dip Tube Filter

exessive foam while bottling from the tap with a floating dip tube

I've used a stainless steel nut like burtom said earlier, but a 5/8 slid over the metal tube between the hose and the ring that attaches to the float. Since switching to the plastic filtered ends I haven't needed the weights.
