Beer Smith Final Gravity Too High?

I checked the Wyeast site and it lined up perfectly with Beersmith. The starter size I have is 1.5L so I don't think that is affecting it. Thanks Ted

Beer Smith Final Gravity Too High?

I changed from wyeast 1968 to Notty and came a lot closer to the estimated FG. Since I have a ton of Notty on hand I will probably just use that.

Beer Smith Final Gravity Too High?

I have entered all the information from the Stone IPA clone from the December BYO and I am getting a Final Gravity of 1024 when the recipe calls for 1012. There is probably something simple I am doing wrong but I can't see it. Anyone have any suggestions? I am using Wyeast 1968. Ted

Hello from WY, but moving to WA soon.

Summertime in B'ham is incredible. Great weather before the rainy season hits. Best time of year to be outside and enjoy the beauty of the area. By the way, Boundary Bay is the shizzle. Ted

    What are you reading now?

Maus by Art Spiegelman. The first graphic novel I have ever read. A story of the Holocaust using mice for the Jews, cats for the Nazis, dogs for the GIs. Amazing, actually won a Pulitzer back when.

    Spigot Removal from Sanke

I was lucky enough to get an older Sanke with a spigot attached but the spigot is really old and gnarly looking and it leaks a lot and I would like to replace it. I have tried unscrewing the bastard but to no avail. Would a dremel be my best bet to get this thing off and any tips? Ted

    Gifts for teachers? Why?

My wife has been teaching kindergarten for 10 years mostly at the poorer schools in the area. We have enough coffee cups from there to last a lifetime. 2 years ago she moves to the more well off school and at the end of the year receives a $300 gift certificate to a fancy shmancy hot...

    1st time dry hopping

Try putting the hops in a bag weighted with marbles to make them sink. A little trick I learned on here.

How far is your commute? (one way)

.8 miles. Its great because we are a one car family (Un-American, I know). I usually bike there but since I broke my collarbone 6 weeks ago I have been walking. Ted

    Stuck Sparge

Thanks for the reply guys. Revvy, do you use the round or rectangular cooler? I like the idea of a circular braid but I have a rectangular cooler and don't know if a round braid would work in there. Ted

    Stuck Sparge

This morning I got a stuck sparge using FlyGuy 10 gallon conversion. The brass plug I used at the end of the hose came off mid sparge and clogged everything up. How does everybody secure that little devil on there? Its not fun draining a whole batch to look for that thing. Ted
