    Northern Brewer - Buyer Beware

My LHBS is great for ingredients, not as much for equipment. Morebeer has become my go to place to order what I can’t get locally. Great prices, great service, fast (usually free) shipping.

Poll: Do you have, or plan to get, an electric car?

    I was just being obtuse.😆

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

Golden Naked Oats would make more sense.

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

The 12oz of Golden Promise seems like an odd add. Doesn’t seem like such a small % of a second base malt would add much of anything that would be detectable to the palate.

    Question concerning water

I’d start here… https://www.homebrewtalk.com/threads/a-brewing-water-chemistry-primer.198460/ It gives you a quick and easy rule of thumb to quickly get you making good beer while you figure out the more detailed methods.

Poll: Do you have, or plan to get, an electric car?

True, but electric motors are capable of incredible amounts of torque. With enough torque, you can spin those props at a much slower RPM. These days some of the most advanced big turbo props are spinning those huge 6 bladed composite props at less than 1000 rpm at max T/O power.

Tell me what to brew next! (poll)

Not on your list, but it’s a great time to start lagering a Maibock.

Poll: Do you have, or plan to get, an electric car?

Yes, but they don’t feed the grassy part to cows, only the seeds. As soon as I posted I knew someone was likely to bring that up.

Poll: Do you have, or plan to get, an electric car?

EV’s are not as clean as you’d hope, but the MPG equivalence of using coal to generate and then charge an EV is still leaps and bounds ahead of burning gas in your car. The bigger question is the cleanliness of mining/processing and the recycling/disposing of the metals used to manufacture...

Poll: Do you have, or plan to get, an electric car?

Cattle are supposed to eat grass, not corn or it’s remnants.

    S04 fruitines temperature?

I’ve found it to be noticeably, but not overly fruity every time I’ve used it. One of my favorite strains.

    Make IPA Clear Again

I love NEIPA’s. Love. But even I’m getting burned out on them. It’s a little disheartening to go into a small brewery and have 8 out of ten tap handles be IPA’s of some kind, most of which are hazy. Forget clear IPA’s, where have all the red and brown ales gone? Make Beer Red Again! I’ve...

Dry yeast manufacturers… could you please up the 11g packet size?

FTR, I believe Omega upped the amount of yeast in their standard home brew packs by 50%. Of course the price went up commensurately.

Dry yeast manufacturers… could you please up the 11g packet size?

So you create more cleaning for yourself by making starters instead of just spending an extra 5-6 bucks? In my feeble mind making a starter is just one more (unnecessary) opportunity for something to go wrong. Unless you’re consistently making very high gravity beer, I just don’t see the...

Dry yeast manufacturers… could you please up the 11g packet size?

I feel like people who frequently make starters, are by and large just busybodies who really enjoy the science behind brewing, and just always have to have something going on in their little laboratories. From my experience, there is virtually no reason to make a starter for 95%of the beers most...
