Priming sugar for cold crashed Pilsner

Thanks for the additional input @AlexKay and @doug293cz. So, no easy answers here I guess. :( Related, I did have an issue recently where I cold-crashed a Festbier using the method I described above and let it come back to room temp after in an attempt to have a known level of C02 (also as...

Priming sugar for cold crashed Pilsner

Still seeking advice on my previous post (just above). Any input?

Priming sugar for cold crashed Pilsner

I know this is a dated thread now, but I'd like a clarification on a slight twist to the typical cold-crash scenario. I always see the advice that the cold-crash won't impact CO2 because there's no source to replace the CO2 during the cold crash. However, in my scenario: - I finish fermentation...

Mixing 2 known water sources - basic math and Beersmith question

I haven't had time to experiment with this yet, but I have it all in GS and it seems to be functional. FYI - Some of the cut/paste info for columns D&E are intermixed in your above post, but it's not hard to straighten out based on the provided screen shot. Thanks!

American Porter Bee Cave Brewery Robust Porter

Brewed this yesterday for the first time. Looking great so far... ;) Though, take the blow-off tube warnings elsewhere in this thread seriously. I assumed I had plenty of head-space in this carboy, but a few hours after the attached photo, I had to switch the airlock for a tube. This looks...

Mixing 2 known water sources - basic math and Beersmith question

Sorry for the delayed response. I spent yesterday brewing... ;^) Anyway, so far so good... The system where I did the initial testing of your spreadsheet info doesn't have a copy of Excel, so I tested it using Google Sheets. While everything so far seems to work as intended in GS, if that's not...

Mixing 2 known water sources - basic math and Beersmith question

If you're game for going into some of those details, that'd probably be a great service to the community and I'd be really interested. However, I can't promise that I'd actually do anything constructive with the info. With that in mind, and knowing that it's probably a big ask to go down that...

Mixing 2 known water sources - basic math and Beersmith question

In addition to the above "how to" response, thanks for the additional details. While much of what you've said is beyond my current understanding, it's good to know that I should take the provided results with a grain of salt. Thanks again.

Mixing 2 known water sources - basic math and Beersmith question

It sounds like you've been able to access the "Water" tab. In case not, that can be done via either of: Main menu item "Ingredients" | "Water" ... or ... From the "Tree" control on the left (Ingredients | Water node) Either of those should open a "Water" tab in the main application area...

Mixing 2 known water sources - basic math and Beersmith question

Thanks again for the input (and for going above/beyond for downloading and taking a look at Beersmith). While I'm no Beersmith expert, I'm not sure we're on the same page here... The Beersmith tool I'm talking about is the "Water Profile Tool" (accessed via Tools | Water Profile Tool). In...

Mixing 2 known water sources - basic math and Beersmith question

@ajdelange, Thanks for the excellent input. I assumed all of the math would play out linearly. Good to know that pH doesn't fit that mold. If anyone has input on the (seemingly?) odd Brewsmith results mentioned above, I'm listening. Thanks again.

Mixing 2 known water sources - basic math and Beersmith question

For the record, here are the results of the Ward Labs report for my tap water in case anyone has any particular input. pH: 7.6 TDS: 400 Electrical Conductivity: 0.67 Cations / Anions: 7.3 / 7.1 Sodium, Na: 47 Potassium, K: 4 Calcium, Ca: 58 Magnesium, Mg: 27 Total Hardness, CaCO3: 258 Nitrate...

Mixing 2 known water sources - basic math and Beersmith question

Hi All, I have a Ward Labs report for my tap water and I'd like to dilute it with some R/O water to tone down some of the compounds. I also have a report for the R/O water (from the provider) that I'll assume is accurate for my purposes. I assume that calculating the compounds resulting from a...
