note that i opened this topic a month ago? by now fermentation has finished and it was down to 1.009 when i bottled ;)

well i bottled it a week ago and primed with half a teaspoon of sugar and shall sample next week (yes its sparkling), it was racked well and is clear but we will see for the taste test, also i used muntons gold yeast

also the recipe said honey beer so apologies for putting this in the wrong forum to start with

well it doesn't list one in the recipe funny enough but i checked the hydrometer before pitching the yeast and it read 1035 i also added some nutrient

hey i found an old recipe for honey beer (using honey as the only sugar source i.e no malt) however the fermentation is very very slow, after about a week it has only gained in 1% alc volume out of a total 5.5% (average) so whats up anyone? the recipie used 500g (1.1lb) of honey 30g of hops...

the brew in terms of hygene went fine i will be more confident in using sod meta thanks!

true it turned out to taste like honey ale which funny enough is my favourte beer and i was going to brew that next still i will try to get that fosters spot on (i think its because i used brewing sugar and not the reccomended cane sugar)

i have heard it is almost impossable to match a homebrew beer with a commercial one is this true? because i think its quite easy providing you use the right teqneques (excuse my spelling)

where did you see those colours?

no i don't really have a local shop so i order of the net and 20L is about amber colour i think and once diluted in the wort it should be lighter by the way my larger is now priming and it is good! shame about the amber colour but it tastes good! forgot to add is there an alternative to crystal...

ok i just hope my brew goes well if not there is a lesson to be learned i know im not allergic so thats not a trouble i will keep you updated and tell you how the brew goes any other advice is welcome thanks.:mug:

does anyone know in the u.k where you can get 20L crystal malt as i had to brew my lagar with a dark strain which is annoying

i sterilized my equipment with sodium metabisulphite but i was wondering if this will affect the beer because aparently you don't need to rinse out the equipment i fear if traces are in the beer it will kill the yeast but i have been told its harmless in small quantitys.

i suppose when buying off the internet you have to be weary some internet shops i know of sell poor quality stock
