It was originally a wyeast 1056, this was when I was building it up after I decanted the first. Black sediment came from my dme wort.

I was just making my starter for brew day and while I was pouring my wort into the flask at the last second there was some dark sediment almost black that came in and my wort is a little gray looking. Anyone seen anything like this? Any advice/wisdom is appreciated. Thanks

Recently got myself a little O2 system, other than aerating your wort, how about aerating my starter yeast? I would think it only makes sense, but any thoughts are appreciated. Thanks

Newby here with a question, I am doing a 5g extract recipe and want to do a full boil. If recipe calls for a 60 min boil how much water do I use? Do I just start with surplus water and boil it down to 5g at the conclusion of the 60 min boil? Any advice we'll appreciated.
