American Amber Ale House Amber (AG & Extract)

Brewed the all grain recipe about a month ago and just got it on tap. It still needs to clear up a little but it's tasting great. Nice carmel notes with just enough bitterness to back it up. Great beer to have on tap for fall. Thanks for the recipe.

    Danby DAR125SLDD Kegerator Build

How did you test yours? Before I modified mine I put a glass of water in it and checked the temp. It got to 4C (about 40F) at 3/4 high. I didn't touch the seal, just trimmed the door. I considered buying a new fridge, swapping the doors and returning the old one, but there's no guarantee the...

    Danby DAR125SLDD Kegerator Build

Thanks. It seems most people's fridges have no problem getting cold enough. I've ordered a temp controller and I'll try jumpering out the thermostat. That should solve my problem.

    Danby DAR125SLDD Kegerator Build

Thanks to everyone who posted in this thread, I wouldn't have been able to do this conversion without it. Here's a very poor quality picture of my build so far. My problem now is that my fridge just isn't getting cold enough. On the coldest setting the beer is coming out at 7C (45F), I'd like...

Winter Seasonal Beer Holly (Christmas Ale)

No kidding. I kegged mine a week ago and it would be so easy to go take a sample. I'm trying to wait at least three weeks before I try it, but it's really testing my patience.

    It took a while

All of those mistakes sound very minor. You will have drinkable, and probably even good, beer. Congratulations on your first batch!

Complete list of mini-fridge models to convert to kegerators

I haven't done this one myself but I've been looking at it. https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f51/frigidaire-model-frc445gb-mini-fridge-kegerator-conversion-89013/ Looks like other people have managed to get two 5 gallons and one 3 gallon.

Winter Seasonal Beer Holly (Christmas Ale)

Brewed my extract version last night, dialed it back a bit to 1.070 OG. I replaced the pale malt with LME and the wheat with a little wheat DME. I'm going to let it sit in primary for about 4 weeks before bottling with the spice tea. I can already tell this is going to be a good one.

    Pumpkin Ale

If you're using the sugar that came with the kit then it should be the right amount of sugar for that kit. You can leave them at room temp without having to worry about bottle bombs.

    Pumpkin Ale

Are you using a calculator to figure out the amount of priming sugar? Have you had a problem with bottle bombs in the past? I bottle condition as well and have never had a problem storing beer at room temp. If you use the right amount of priming sugar it shouldn't be a problem. The yeast...

Winter Seasonal Beer Holly (Christmas Ale)

I missed your post when I first read through this thread. Glad to here the extract version worked out. What did you do about the wheat? Did you steep it, use wheat extract or just leave it out?

Winter Seasonal Beer Holly (Christmas Ale)

This recipe looks great and I'd love to make it my Christmas brew this year. My problem is that it's not very likely I'll have time to do an all grain batch anytime soon. To me it looks like it would be pretty easy to convert this recipe to extract. Replace the pale malt with extra light...

Beginner Brewer Looking For a Nice Kit

Based on that if I were going to chose four kits from Ontario Beer Kegs I'd probably go for the Amber Ale for something close to Rikards. An American Pale Ale will be hoppy but not too hoppy, the cream ale will be nice and light and drinkable and the nut brown ale will be a little darker then...

Beginner Brewer Looking For a Nice Kit

What commercial beers do you like? It would be easier to recommend kits if we had an idea of what you like. Keep in mind you can pretty easily buy the ingredients separately and put together your own kit from a recipe. There are some very good recipes posted in the recipe section of this...

Beginner Brewer Looking For a Nice Kit

I've always bought my ingredients from ontariobeerkegs.com. The shipping is very reasonable and they have a high turnover so you know the ingredients are fresh. They have plenty of kits available, you should be able to find you like. Also, you could find a recipe you like and just buy the...

    Beersmith miscalculations.

I had a similar problem my first time using Beersmith. My OG was 5 points high and when I got the wort into the fermenter it became clear that there was about 1/4 gallon less then there should have been. I've since adjusted my boil off rates in my equipment profile and it's working great.

    3 Gallon Batch recipe

I do 3 gallon batches using beersmith to scale down 5 gallon (or larger) recipes. It's super simple and has worked well for me so far.

    Toronto Brewing Co.

Thanks for the review. I've been ordering all my supplies from Ontario Beer Kegs but there are a few things I need that they don't carry. Looks like Toronto Brewing has everything I need. My next order will be from them.
