NEIPA Grain Bill to achieve Opaque Pale Yellow

I used 8# Rahr 2 Row, 1 1/2# and 12oz Flaked Oats. Came out nice and hazy, not murky. Can't wait to brew it again.

All I want for Christmas is....

If I am shooting for the moon, going with Hosehead Brew Control, 15 gal Spike MT and HLT with HERMS tube. But since I am most likely on Santa's naughty list, I will settle for Blichmann Brewvision for my 20 gal Spike BK.

    First Time Brewer, Too Ambitious?

Crawl. Walk. Run. Couldn't agree more with other posts. Keep it simple out of the gate. There are nice all grain kits out there. With detailed instructions to help guide you through the process, it will make your brew day a little less stressful. Agree on the pot size too. The best...

    So who's brewing this weekend?

Brewed 10 gallons of IPA this past rainy Sunday. First time brewing with flaked oats. Was worried about a stuck sparge. Pleasantly surprised bent went off without a hitch. First time for doing 2 hop stands. Can't wait to see how this one turns out.

    First Time Brewing This Weekend

I know the mantra is RDWHHB...I would wait until AFTER the boil has finished before you start drinking. You want to stay focused on the process!

Beer always changes flavor within a day of kegging

Have to agree with this. My first batch was extract. Second and 3rd batches were "partial" extract batches. My buddy would always saw it was good, but there was a twang he could taste. Went to all grain, he never uttered that word again.

    Ss Brewtech 1bbl nano brewhouse

Really nice looking system. My guess it will appeal to those looking to go pro. Can't really see mass appeal for the average homebrewer. Would be curious to find out from this community how many out there have a 20+ gallon set up.

Need suggestions for a non-hefe wheat beer

I'm planning on doing a Pete's Summer Brew clone. It's 35% wheat. You could do something similar.

    Spa panel question

Remember that GFCIs are not reliable, with close to 70% non functional in areas of high lightening activity. DO NOT rely on the GFCI. It may make you feel good, but it may NOT save your life. Ground everything very well, and test the GFCI EVERY TIME. Just like buckling your seat belt. If...

    Single hop IPA

I've done citra two times with varying the yeast. Simcoe 2x, again with varying the yeast each time and have Nelson Sauvin in the queue. Great way to track/learn incremental changes to beer. The grain bill remains constant.

    Mid Hudson Valley, CT Round#16

Anyone coming back through the Fairfield CT area? Don't have the flexibility to get up to Wappingers. I could use 2 sacks if it could be arranged. Thanks.

What are you doing instead of brewing this weekend?

    Painting the dining room.

    Electric Brewing without HERMS/RIMS

I get pretty decent efficiency in my current 3 vessel propane setup. Like you said, a little DME to bring it up never hurt anyone. Been pretty lucky with some tasty brews for the past 3 years. Looking forward to eventually getting to a full blown semi automated system.

    Electric Brewing without HERMS/RIMS

Great build. This gives me hope that I can get there eventually.

    Electric Brewing without HERMS/RIMS

I plan on moving off the patio brewing with propane and into the basement with electric. After pouring over many threads and researching HERMS and RIMS, I eventually want to get to a HERMS system. My budget right now would allow me to install 240v outlet with spa panel, new BK, going from 10...

What are your contrarian/"unpopular" beer opinions?

Fancy glassware is over rated. Give me a nonic pint glass, makes no difference if its a pilz, ipa, double ipa, amber ale stout, porter etc...if it's good craft brew...tasty as hell.

Comparing the new Topsflo TD5 to the Chugger Pump

Well done. Thanks for doing this. Planning out a basement eBrew system. TD5 may simply win out by sheer quietness for when I plan on stating brew days at 5am.
