    Fermenter buckets lid

OK yeah that's a good point. Ill check if the seal from my old lid fits and the if the lid will still snap into place. It just doesn't seem like it was meant to allow space for a seal.

    Fermenter buckets lid

Ok I'll try some tape next time, thanks for the advice. Well I'm glad I'm not the only one who had this problem

    Fermenter buckets lid

I use kegs, so essentially just lager it in the keg? Does that build up sediment in the bottom? Maybe just pour a beer out before moving it?

    Fermenter buckets lid

Ok. Maybe I'll just let em go for a couple more days then rack to the carboys. I don't think I should let the lager sit like that for a month.

    Fermenter buckets lid

Actually yes I can twist them very easily, I don't want to open them really but I guess it's not doing much good this way. Thanks for the input, I'll have to try some tape today

    Fermenter buckets lid

I recently tried lagering for the first time, and it's been 5 days without a single bubble in the air lock. So I was concerned but it looks like there's some new trub at the bottom, and I found some similar concerns on here where it sounds like lagers are slow and may not cause the air lock to...

Question Regarding Hefeweizen I brewed today

Daddyboul I'm still interested in hearing if you fixed your problem. I have tried a couple batches using Skagit Valley Soft White Wheat, and have had very low OG, also around 50%. Both recipes were 60% wheat. so I ran a couple experiments. I had always used PPG as a guage, so if White wheat is...

Cream Ale Cream of Three Crops (Cream Ale)

Soo...... rookie mistake.... I'm used to doing 60 minute boils. So when I saw put the hops in at 60, I automatically put them in at the start of the boil. So basically I boiled the hops for 90 min. Does that mean I probably boiled away all the bittering flavor or do you think it will be alright?

Specialty IPA: Brown IPA Stoned American Brown Ale

A little late i know. But this looks like a recipe worth trying. I will try this one next and provide feedback.

Winter Seasonal Beer Holly (Christmas Ale)

I would think if you want to get closest to the original recipe you would put centennial in at 30 to get the flavor instead of mostly just the aroma of it at 5. But I too want to change the hop additions in order to use the hops I already have. I have Willamette, cascade, northern brewer, and...

    Experimental Beer Dark Cream Ale

This is only my third all grain attempt, I tried to follow this recipe and I just bottled it the other night. I was wondering how you got such a normal ABV. mine came out to about 7 or 7.2%. Which is way too high for my liking. With that much grain how do you have such a low gravity and alcohol...

    Flaked Corn and Rice problem

Yeah you're probably very right. I guess i have a lot to learn before I try my own stuff. Well to the books I'll go I guess.

    Flaked Corn and Rice problem

Well it had been sitting for more than 2 weeks. But now it has been sitting for 2 months roughly. And I opened one the other day and found it had finally carbonated! So maybe I'm just impatient. But after all was done it had tooo much carbonation and tasted not so good, like champangne almost. I...

    Flaked Corn and Rice problem

Great, thank you for your help. unfortunately I don't have a recipe. Both of these batches I had problems with were just ideas from the homebrew store guy mixed with my own knowledge of extract brewing. maybe this should tell me to stick to recipes for a while longer before I try my own again...

    Flaked Corn and Rice problem

ok thanks for your help. If I opened a bottle now and took a reading would that tell me anything? or do I need an OG reading in order for this reading to be useful?

    Flaked Corn and Rice problem

also I only used that type of yeast once. the other time it did the same thing with regular old dry ale yeast.

    Flaked Corn and Rice problem

care to elaborate? Why do you think the yeast is dead?

    Flaked Corn and Rice problem

are there any common mistakes I could have made that would make it hard for the beer to carbonate? I read somewhere that sometimes the yeast will settle and you need to shake the bottles to suspend it in the beer. But I think thats only if you leave it in the fermentor for a long time.
