What beer/homebrew blogs/magazines do you read?

None. Mostly conversation with people, maybe a small amount of social media.

    3rd beer......still low carb.....Bottles.

I appreciate all the outside thought. Sometimes I just rack my brain for hours on end (all while drinking slightly carbed beer) trying to figure it out.... DarthCitra I will be able to move to kegging sometime in the future. As for right now I am in a 700 sq ft apartment with a wife, newborn...

    3rd beer......still low carb.....Bottles.

Still a greenhorn, that much of which I'm well aware.... This is my third beer (Apricot wheat, summer ale, amber - in that order). All three have been meticulously controlled as far as sanitation and temperatures go. All three have also been very low on the carbonation side. My first...

First attempt at Apricot Wheat Ale

So this brew was back sweetened just slightly using lactose and bottled about a week and a half ago. It's been resting comfortably in my fridge after reaching good carb levels. It's a huge hit. Sent from my iPhone using Home Brew

    Music while brewing

Brewmex41 Where in Vancouver are you at? I grew up in Battle Ground. Only in Hattiesburg, MS because of Uncle Sam....

    Hattiesburg Roll Call

BUMP In hattiesburg. Just attending the Craft Beer Festival yesterday, had a blast. I'm seeking out some leads on the home-brew dudes that were there. I seem to have misplaced my brochure. :drunk:

First attempt at Apricot Wheat Ale

Ticebain, I appreciate your input. I'm still quite new to brewing (more like brand new, 8 days new...) and don't understand what you mean by "mash a little higher". Forgive my ignorance. Sent from my iPhone using Home Brew

First attempt at Apricot Wheat Ale

sptaylor70, Thanks for the response. Have you ever brewed a fruit/wheat before and was your taste very tart? It was so tart that my wife didn't find it very pleasant. Any recommendations on how to deal with that?

First attempt at Apricot Wheat Ale

So here's the deal. I've moved to secondary after a very successful primary. Racked on top of the fruit approximately 6 days ago. For the first 6 days I had steady activity in my blowoff (chose a blowoff because of violent fermentation from fruit). I took an SG on Friday (Day 4 of secondary) it...

    Whoops.....wort before fruit in secondary

Everyone. Thanks so much for all the advice. I do want to clarify that the jug isn't "filled" per se. There is maybe 1-1.5 of starsan & water. My question should've been whether or not starsan water vs tap water. But you've all answered that. As far as sitting for 30 days I do believe I'll...

    Whoops.....wort before fruit in secondary

JimRausch, Many thanks. In face the starsan in my blowoff jug is leftover starsan from sanitizing my carboy before racking. Waste not want not right? I will probably switch to the airlock for that same reason. And what are your thoughts on sitting in secondary given it's a wheat beer. Just...

    Whoops.....wort before fruit in secondary

Roger that flars. The carboy is on a 2" stiff foam mat to insulate it from the floor. The jug is directly on the floor. I'm so paranoid about my sanitation it's guaranteed to be the one thing that is never underdone. Most likely it will be overkill. Sent from my iPhone using Home Brew

    Whoops.....wort before fruit in secondary

Much appreciated Chickypad. I'll look into carboy caps. As far as the blowoff jug there is only about 1.5 qts in the jug. But none the less I will look at ways to improve it. Sent from my iPhone using Home Brew

    Whoops.....wort before fruit in secondary

Good morning. A little background: first brew, apricot wheat ale is the goal, started 8 days ago, only using a secondary fermentation because of the fruit. Last night I was moving to secondary fermentation and my plan WAS to add the fruit into the carboy, then rack the wort on top to aid in...

On my phone I can't get a clear look at your ride in your pic. Looks like some sort of adventure or sport touring model.....? Sent from my iPhone using Home Brew
