    Carbonation Failure.

It sounds like it may be worth the extra step. With a small stir my bottles were always consistent.

    Carbonation Failure.

My thought is, use something you have already sanitized for bottling and stir gently while not agitating the surface. For me it's my racking cane. On your superior system it may be your bottling wand. ;)

    Carbonation Failure.

No need to bust out a spoon. Just stir it with your sanitized racking cane before you bottle. No need to rely on a gravity whirlpool.

    Herms set up questions

Sounds like the 3/8 IC might have to become a CFC that would solve one problem. Thanks Pol I have looked your system over a few times. You've been a great help.

    Herms set up questions

The cooler is 12g. My HLT is a converted 15g keg. Another question, how long should the HERMS coil be? I have a 25' 3/8 IC that was gonna take the dive but I think 1/2 might be the way to go.

    Herms set up questions

I am building a 2 teir herms system, and the frame work is almost complete. My plan is to automate the HLT, and mash out of my converted cooler. Question on the temp probe for the LOVE controller. Where should it go? I would imagine closer to the flame would be the best bet. Also has...

    Wow...bottling alone sux!!!

I bottled alone a couple of days ago. The one thing that I did that really made a difference was placing the bottling bucket on the fridge top. That way I could stand with the bottles at chest level. It made it pretty easy. Right off the counter top into the conditioning cupboard.

Tell me about your HERMS-- I've got a ton of questions!

I am wanting to set up a HERMS, so my question is why would you have to have 3 controllers? Isn't controlling the temp through the HLT part of the point. My plans only call for one temp controller on the HLT since I will be mashing in a cooler. Maybe I am way off base here. Thanks

    Mash temp low, suggestions anyone??

Boiling water is your best bet.

    Explain Hops to me...

Its has to do with extracting acids. That much I know, when you boil it you pull the alpha acids, (isomerisation?) that is why your hops have a alpha rating. Aroma and flovor hops are added later so the flavor and aroma aren't cooked out of them. Something like that. More technical answers...

    Online Score, well maybe

I purchased 5 pinlock Kegs. The price was right, but I never really thought thru what I was going to use them for. I am thinking about using them for fermentors as I already have 6 ball lock kegs. None of them hold pressure, one of them has been welded, the weld doesn't seem to be leaking...

Cooler MLT, Is round or sguare better?

I made a square MLT and have since thought about switching to a round one. My reasoning, I am in the process of building a rig, the round ones seem like they would fit more easily, second fastening a rotating sparge arm to a round one would, in my opinion be more effective.
