    AHA Governing Committee 2020

I have submitted for a spot on the American Homebrewers Association Governing Committee. I would love to represent the homebrewing community on the national level, and would greatly appreciate your vote! Competition looks pretty fierce, but I believe I would be a great fit. If you are a member...

Returning to brewing after a couple years!

Hi! I'm glad to be back! A couple years ago we sold our house in Kentucky and I hit the road in a RV, traveling the country with my wife and 2 kids. I had grand plans of brewing with others in our travels and blogging about it, but the logistics just never worked out. Anyway, we decided to...

Jockey box tubing length 50 vs 120

Hello, friends! We recently purchased an RV and plan to hit the road full time for a couple years. I am trying to figure out how to bring my homebrew with me. I will not be bringing any brewing equipment, as I hope to meet fellow homebrewers around the country and brew with them. I am hoping...

    I wish my LHBS sold...

I recently picked up a part time job at my LHBS. Since I am there for several hours at a time and now have a pretty good feel for the inventory, I have begun to notice things that are not available there which I would like to buy. For example, they carry chrome faucets, but no Perlick or...

    Fifty/Fifty stainless steel growler

My wife picked up this 64oz insulated growler for me at Kroger. She said it was $40 but was in the clearance section for $12! If you have a Kroger near you, you may want to check it out!

Kentucky Various cigar box stir plates $50.00

These stir plates were made from cigar boxes. The speed is very adjustable. When the knob is turned all the way down, it is off. As you can see in the photos, you can have a small dimple, a large vortex, or anything in between. I did not glue down the magnet (included) so you can fine tune it...

Changing temp of beer bottled from keg

I just finished a black IIPA, and have it force carbed at 15psi @58 deg F, for 2.01 vol. CO2. If I bottle some for a competition, will the carbonation level change if it is chilled lower than 58F?

    Homebrew themed walking cane ideas

Due to a recent injury, I will likely need to have a walking cane soon. I am trying to find ideas for a brewing themed cane. Any thoughts on what I can use for a handle or entire cane? I found these http://www.wilsonwalkingsticks.com/beer-can-es.htm but they seem a little tacky. I may go with...

Kentucky Stir plate made from X-Box 360 HD DVD player

This was made from a X-box 360 HD DVD drive. There is currently a 6V power supply, which does not make a large vortex. A large vortex is really just for show and is not necessary. If you want that, though, let me know and I will install a larger power supply. *flask and stir bar not included...

    Imperial black with Nelson Sauvin

Hello all, I am pretty new to brewing and am wanting to formulate my own recipe. I recently got a variety of hops and am planning to incorporate some of them. I would like to make an Imperial Black Ale similar to Iniquity by Southern Tier, but with my own twist. One of the hops I got which...

What to do with this Sanke keg for AG upgrade

I would like to slowly start building my inventory to start all grain brewing. I have read numerous threads on here to find out what I will need, but I need help with making a decision. I have a 15.5 gallon Sanke keg (legitimately acquired) that I would like to use if it is possible and not...

    My coffee can STC-1000 build

I decided it was time to upgrade my Homebrew system, so I opted to make a fermentation chamber. Here is my stc-1000 build. Thanks to Revvy for posting the diagram https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f51/stc-1000-wiring-333680/. There are 3 outlets. Always on, heat, and cold. I wanted to make it as...

Stc-1000 build; please help with wiring!

I am trying to figure out how to wire up my stc-1000. I am using an old computer cord for the main power supply, but am confused about the wiring. I was expecting black, white and green, but what is this bare wire?
