    bottle sanitation...

Hi all- My dishwasher has a sanitizing cycle on it- Do you think this is sufficient for sanitizing bottles, or is it probably smarter to dunk the bottles in star-san and use the dishwasher as a drying rack only? Thanks, Ben

    star san on skin...

Hi all- I'm a beginning brewer and I just bought my first bottle of star san. Looking at the caution statements on the bottle, they make it seem like it's pretty nasty stuff. Is it overkill, or should you definitely wear gloves and safety glasses etc.?? Thanks! Ben

Thanks for the info. - I'm assuming that glass is necessary for anything longer than that?

    secondary in plastic...

Is it recommended to only use glass for secondary, or is it fine to use plastic buckets as long as the beer is only going to sit for a few weeks? Thanks, Ben

    secondary temp.-

I've just started brewing and actually never used a secondary before. I just ordered one and will be trying it next batch. I asked about temp. because my basement is around 55 and I've had to use a brew belt heater on my primary for the 2 batches I've tried so far. I wasn't sure whether I need...

    secondary temp.-

Hi all- Quick question- In general, what should the temp. be like during secondary if you kept your primary at around 65 degrees? Can you let it drop down to around 50 to 55, or should you keep it consistently the same? Thanks, Ben

    Cool conditions........

Hi all- I've got a temp. issue when it comes to bottling- my basement stays around 55 degrees, so I usually bring my batch up into the house for a week or two. This is becoming hard to do now as I'm starting to get more batches bottled because my house is too small to have cases of beer stacked...

New brewer questions on modifying kits. etc...

Hi all- I've just started homebrewing with a Coopers microbrew kit that my wife gave me for Christmas. So far I've made and drank the draught that came with the kit, strictly using supplied ingredients- and I've just bottled an Irish stout that was also a Coopers kit. Now of course i'm...
