    stirplate getting warm?

    I have the same issue, I usually put a plate on the stirrer and fill it with water before putting the flask on it.

    My local brewing supplier has it. And I believe it's barley malt that's been dried over a peat fire, wich gives it its flavour.

    I made an IPA a while ago using whiskey malt, had a very nice taste. I'm gonna make another batch next weekend with some adjustments to the recipe (more hops, dryhopping).

    I think it's pretty normal. Oak chips contain a bit of sugars, so it might start to ferment again a bit.
