    Fermenting bucket questions

Or contact local bakeries for frosting buckets they plan to throw away. I've gotten quite a few 2 g, 3.5 g, and 6 g buckets that way. All free. I just soak PBW in them overnight, scrub, and sanitize.

    Lauter deadspace

Ah ok, that makes sense. I just wanted to make sure I was properly accounting for everything. Wasn't sure if that would be the dead space or just loss due to absorption.

    Lauter deadspace

Trying to hone in my equipment for Brew Target/BeerSmith. I currently do 1 gallon batches and want to get my system honed in for this setup and to give me some experience when I can go bigger later on. Long story short I was given a BBS kit as a gift and have been using their "way" to brew...

    1-Gallon Brewers UNITE!

Brewing a creme ale today using this recipe as inspiration: https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f62/cream-three-crops-cream-ale-66503/ We have our IPA in the fridge, two batches of a witbier conditioning, and a SMaSH "pale ale" fermenting. So happy to finally have a bit of a pipeline going.

How are all of you doing gravity readings on these 1 gallon batches? I've been trying to decide how to do it without pulling 8 ounces at a time. On a small batch that starts to add up quickly.

    Easy 1 gallon batches?

I use 1 gallon jugs for fermentation. First couple days use a blow off tube then throw the airlock on. I know some on here use 2 gallon buckets too.

    Easy 1 gallon batches?

I realize this is a very long thread, but there is some good information in it. It's worth reading or asking questions in if you feel the need. I started brewing with 1 gallon all-grain batches using a couple of large stockpots we have on hand. We're three brews in and it's a fairly simple...

    1-Gallon Brewers UNITE!

Does anyone have a recommendation for a good scale that can measure the small amount of hops and other additives (spices, etc) in 1 gallon batches yet have a capacity of 2-3 pounds?

    1-Gallon Brewers UNITE!

Bottled our IPA tonight. Now I know why so many of you use auto-siphons.... That was not terribly fun; although by the end of it we had a good system going. We were able to get 10 bottles out of the batch. It smelled like an IPA, so that's good!

    1-Gallon Brewers UNITE!

Bottling our IPA tomorrow. Going to make Blue Moon clone that I found on here for my mother-in-law's wedding. Gonna brew a second batch for us of course. I already have brewing sessions planned for every other week through November at the moment. I need more fermenting jugs...

    1-Gallon Brewers UNITE!

I know I just spent a week or so reading through this whole thread, but I can't remember seeing a Cream Ale recipe. My wife is from Wisconsin and loves New Glarus's Spotted Cow (I'm a fan too) and I'd love to make her a beer similar to that. Anyone have a favorite Cream Ale recipe?

    1-Gallon Brewers UNITE!

Well it only took me a week or so to read through this entire thread. Just brewed my first batch of beer ever, an IPA from BBS. My wife and I are already planning to do an AG blue moon clone soon in addition to a few others. Tons of fun!
