    The Brewery at Bacchus

Bacchus in New Paltz, NY has started brewing their own beer. Last I stopped in, they were offering their Spring Peeper saison: very clean, very refreshing, and very unfortunately, gone very quickly. It may have been intentional, it may not, but the bit of hop sediment at the bottom of the...

That is a thing of beauty -- simple yet full of character. What did you use for the horizontal surface? I admit to a modicum of jealousy that you have free access to a source of barnwood. My dad's giving up an old chest freezer he doesn't have room for anymore; I'm attempting to rustle up some...

Opinions and input: Smoked Chocolate Raspberry Stout

Working on a birthday present for the better half. The request was "mostly chocolate and smoke, with raspberry in the background". Or something along those lines. Trying for a largely roasty/chocolatey/smoky taste with a raspberry 'edge', if you will. Mostly I'm trying to get a good...

    calling all disc golfers.....

It always sucks losing a disc you're partial to; even moreso when you've put that much effort into making it what it is. I've always liked Sidewinders for distance, but they don't seem to like me...lost one to an overgrown ditch, another to a lake (first round using a new one, no less). I...

    Show Us Your Label

I like the thin ribbon-type label vertical down the bottle. Rather original. What's holding it on, wax? If so, how do you do the custom image? Made this for an upcoming pumpkin ale. So far, the taste isn't living up to the label, but I haven't added the vanilla beans yet, so we'll see.

Hah. Leftover Casserole was a half-batch I made last year to use up what was left of the hops and grain I had sitting around. It came out surprisingly good for something made from whatever was lying around. It had a head that could hold up the bottlecap. I have the recipe at home if you...

    Show Us Your Label

Made this for a batch I brewed for a guy I work with. A bit snarky since there's a fair amount of ballbusting between us on a daily basis.

    Show Us Your Label

Cool, thanks. I'll give it a try when I get home. Got tomorrow off too, so plenty time to waste mucking about on the laptop with BeerSmith and GIMP. The glowy stuff underneath is a drop shadow, about 30px wide colored light grey. To my colorblind eyes it's light grey, anyway.

Those are just awesome. I love the look of the paper, the tone of the artwork and text, the burnt edges. Amazing.

Good point. The rattletrap printer I'm working with is nothing like top-end either, so the prints come out a lot more pixellated than it looks on the screen. Ugh, tell me about it. 'S a pain in me arse working on this at home, every time I shift position I have to tilt the screen. Yeah, I...

    Show Us Your Label

Made more to figure out what the hell I'm doing in GIMP than anything else. Girlfriend requested a raspberry chocolate stout, still working the recipe. Description needs to be more...noir-ish, and the front label is even more of a dark blurry mess when printed. I want to keep the name text...

    Pumpkin bread ale

Readying to brew a pumpkin ale in the next week or so. Looking to avoid the 'tastes just like pumpkin pie' thing and go more toward a bready, biscuity flavor. Toward that end, I've picked up some Maris Otter LME (which I've heard is good and bready) and Dingeman's Biscuit Malt. Now, I've...
