    Peanut butter stout?

Thank you for the updates. I'm going to have to do some research on this bbl measurement. I've never heard of it. Also it sounds like you have a pretty sweet brewing set up. I'm jealous. I'm still fermenting in buckets and carboys. Some day I'll splurge on good stuff. I hope that beer turns...

Old LME kit and a couple of mistakes

Possibly. I didn't think of that. It's been a while since I've brewed anything and I don't remember seeing it before.

Old LME kit and a couple of mistakes

Update. Just watched it for about 2 minutes. (24 hours after pitching) and saw a single bubble. So there's some hope here. Just a slow start. When the new yeast comes in I'm going to check SG. And possibly re pitch accordingly. I'm still a little worried about the grease layer I saw before...

    Peanut butter stout?

I believe the company is called Infamous out of Austin TX. They make a peanut butter stout that I love. I'd like to clone it or come up with something close. I'm currently cultivating yeast from a bottle of it. Anybody have a recipe or link to something similar?

Old LME kit and a couple of mistakes

Thank! Just ordered another pack of yeast. Should get it in a couple of days. So if no activity by then, I'm pitchin it!

Old LME kit and a couple of mistakes

Also Google answered my question about wine yeast. Not a good idea. Wine yeast didn't evolve to process the type of sugars in wort. (Just FYI for other beginners)

Old LME kit and a couple of mistakes

Totally agree! Never forget RDWHAHB! But what does it mean? Also, I'll give it a couple more days and report back.

Old LME kit and a couple of mistakes

Tried to respond, but my app is acting up. This may be a repeat. It's been about 9 hours and no activity in the air lock. I will give it more time, but thinking I may have to pitch more yeast. Would it change the flavor too much if I used a yeast that's typically used in wine?

Old LME kit and a couple of mistakes

I've been out of brewing for quite a while now. And was a newbie before I fell out of the hobby. I bought an English Brown Ale LME kit over a year ago and had it stored in the closet. Decided to brew it tonight. The kit included a Nottingham dry yeast pack and I decided to make a starter...

    Next step?

I am doing a chocolate raspberry wine I hope will be done by Christmas. I started with a Burgundy grape and chocolate must and fermented out. I'm not sure of the current specific gravity, but it was in primary for about a week and in secondary for about 3 weeks. I'm sure its done fermenting. I...

No head in glass after bottling from keg

I tried that and got nothing. Its like pouring a glass of water. There is absolutely no foam.

    My first brew!

My first brew was only a few months back. I also went with a brown ale LME kit. Only I added PB2 (powdered peanut butter) in the last 3 minutes of the boil. It turned out to be the best beer I've tasted. Since then, I've made 2 milk stouts. They are both pretty good, but not as good as the pb...

No head in glass after bottling from keg

Just a picnic tap. I used 2 psi and let it run down the side of the bottle to reduce oxidation. Whenever I tried to use the bottling wand (no check valve on bottom) it would fill the bottle half full of foam. So I just went without the wand. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using Home Brew...

No head in glass after bottling from keg

I brewed a Brewers Best LME Milk Stout kit. I kegged it and when I pour from keg tap I get plenty of head. I bottled some from the keg and when I pour a glass from the bottle there is no head whatsoever. Where did I go wrong? The bottled stuff is carbonated just no head.

    Strange (possibly terrible) idea

Just saw a video on you tube about a kit that makes "prohibition whiskey" (its a whiskey flavored alcoholic beverage.) Basically its fermented sugar water and then cleared with liquid charcoal and other fining agents and at the end, whiskey flavor is added. This got me thinking. I don't have...

    Bud Light Clone?

Haha. Yeah sorry about that. I had a few too many last night I guess.

    Bud Light Clone?

J/K. Just thought I'd rile a few guys tonight. My real questions is how long can I store a harvested yeast? And would I need to make a starter with a harvested yeast? Starters and harvesting are all new to me and I've been watching a lot of vids on YouTube but haven't seen the answer to those...

Glass marbles (cat eye, green glass) safe to use?

Sorry I can't answer your question, but I was curious. What is the purpose of the marbles?
