    Forbidden to brew…

Then why not put a ****ing bullseye on your back, son? How about the fact they are scanning MySpace looking for addresses of military members...We had a family in our squadron get a threatining phone call last month. Maybe if you stand out like a sore thumb douce-bag...they will leave me...

    Forbidden to brew…

I, too, am in the service. Being stationed in Germany, I would always complain to the wife how hard it is to brew over here. I will now just shut my mouth and be thankful for the opportunities I do get to brew. CYA! and come home soon! And remember your OPSEC...

How to sweeten on the backend of fermentation

I was about to bottle a Honey Wheat kit I got for Williams when I decided to try a sip. Man, is it dry...almost vinegar!!! Is it even worth saving? What can I do to sweeten it and bottle without over priming? I have potassium sorbate, but have never used it before. Thanks in advance

More nutrient/energizer after ferment has started?

Since you are now entering damage control mode, here are a couple suggestions. #1. Mix this super sweet mead with another mead you make that is dry. #2. Dump some re-hydrated bakers yeast and re-aerate the mead. #3. Add H2O to cut honey-to-water ratio and another packet of Safale yeast and...

    Propane Burner size

I use my turkey fryer burner but it is so slow...only a 5 psi regulator. I want to upgrade now (to around 180,000 BTU) but I also eventually want to install some burners into a permanent stand/system...and I would hate to buy them twice. Looking to spend around $40 for free standing one now...

    Copper Manifold help

I finished my manifold 2 days ago and, at first, I had the same problem. Try to not push down so hard on the coppre and let the wheel do the work. After i did that, they lasted alot longer. I tried the diamond ones but they "melted" the copper, screached and shimmied as I cut, and it just looked...

Going Pro...whose got what it takes?

I know we all have the dream of being a Micro brewery/brew pub, but is there anyone here that has taken the steps toward going Pro? Has anyone researched? Acquried the means? Gone out and looked at real estate? DOES ANYONE HERE THINK THEIR BEER IS GOOD ENOUGH?? My wife and I have talked...

Water pH...are we brewers or chemists?

WOW, Thanks for all the info...I really appreciate it! Off the page Kai sent I did find out my water has 47 mg/L calcium.

Water pH...are we brewers or chemists?

First off, I hate chemistry...but I feel like a chemist reading about water pH and additives. Since I am over in Germany, I dont think I can get a good, accurate water content. Not that I know what to do with it anyways... What do you do for your water and what should I look for when I...

    How long to Bottle Condition?

I thought 3 weeks to a month was long enough but I can hold on to them longer to see what happens. My fermenters are plastice buckets...and they do not sit in direct sunlight...they do sit out in the open in a back room that is unheated.

    How long to Bottle Condition?

I have brewed 6-7 extract kits and they have all had a sharp metallic, over the top bitterness to them. Some have suggested it will disappear over time. I have 3-4 month old beers that I stored cool and cold, and still have the taste. I do boil in aluminum--the SS kettle is on its way. I...

    Beer "OLD" after one week?

I have beers that I brewed months ago and they did the same thing...they do not get any better with age. And the only beer you get around here is Pils or Hefe...hate Pils and sick and tired of Hefe...
