I'm looking to put together a recipe for a valentines day beer competition. Anyone have any experience using strawberry extract? I know that it takes a lot of real strawberries to achieve a good amount of flavor so I was looking to maybe use extract instead.

I've never come across anything stating one way or the other about using these jugs for fermentation. They seem to be the same thing as better bottles. I would assume they are food grade. Anybody have any experience with these jugs?

Like a beginner dummy, I didn't top off pale ale before fermenting. Now I'm a gallon short. Could I boil a gallon of water to remove the oxygen, cool it down and add to the bottling bucket to bring my volume up to 5 gallons like the kit intended?
