Should I leave the airlock off for a day?

I've just brewed a RIS with a OG of 1.105, pitched 2 pallets of rehydrated Nottingham yeast on it. I have a 1" blow off tube to put in the carboy, but I started wondering if I were to leave it loosely covered with foil for a day, while the yeast are reproducing, would that be beneficial? I...

    Ruined Fermenter?

I fermented a blueberry pomegranate wine in a plastic bucket, now the smell won't go away. Is it ruined for brewing beer now or is there something that will get that smell out?

OG and FG way off, please help

I brewed my first stout 3 weeks ago and had an expected OG of 1.055 but what I measured was 1.044(with temp correction)... This was an extract recipe so it wasn't just poor efficiency. Today I checked and the FG is holding at 1.026 which is quite a bit higher than the expected 1.015 estimated...
