    Black stuff in the fermenter.

    I brewed a Red Ale and used my conical for the first time. I just kegged the beer and I'm cleaning the conical. There's the normal ring of crap I'd see in a carboy but this time there's a black color to it. Any idea what it is? Contaminated?

    Standard fittings or Tri Clamp?

    So I'm getting ready to buy a 14 gallon Blichmann conical...should I go with the standard fittings (ball vales) or the tri clamps? My main concern that I've read about is trub getting stuck in the bottom drain in the standard fitting models...almost defeating one of the main reasons I want a...
