    Growing Hops in Ecuador

Hey Jack, We haven't started growing anything yet, simply don't have the time. Brewing is going well though! and from what I understand its pretty hard to grow from the seeds as opposed to the rhizomes.

    MashMaster Mini Mill

I know this thread is a little old but I figure at some point some one will be interested in an actual answer. I've had a Mashmaster for about three months now and run a little nano brewery with it brewing twice a week with an average of 38kg per time. So far it has run fairly well for me, at...

Barranco Beer Company - Craft Beer in Lima, Peru

Sweet, if and when I make it down there Ill let you know for sure. At the moment I am living in Ecuador but there is actually a beer supply company here which has decent prices on hops by the 1lb/10lb/44lb. Its obviously no the same kind of prices youd get in the states for wholesale but its on...

    Growing Hops in Ecuador

You shouldn't have too much of a problem just make sure to tell them its for home brewing. Oh and try to make sure to have pellets and not whole hops. I brought down a 44lb box of falconer's flight and got stopped in customs but after a lot of explaining that it was seedless/non...

No, sadly they only have beer yeast. I might be able to ask the supplier to special order one for me from Fermintis but at the moment its just those 4 strands :/

    Another US-05 experiment... temperature fluctuations

I'm just starting out brewing and US-05 is one of the only yeasts I have access to so this is awesome! I just brewed a batch at 60F two days ago and it seemed to take about 26+ hours before I notice any bubbles or head forming. However I am brewing at 9300ft so I wonder if that has anything to...

    New hops strands/types. How?

You sure could. It would take a lot of work but if you just follow basic principles botany then you could pull it off. I imagine a lot of home brewers already have a slightly mutated or augmented strand that technically the hops in their back yard are different than your typical commercial...

    Game of Thrones Mead

The Iron Islands and its people are kind of based off of the Viking right? Well having spent a lot of time in Scandinavia the home of the vikings I can tell you that they really really like to drink things with the flavor of Anis (is kind of like a black licorice) which can taste similar to...
