    Safale S-04 question

So my OG was 1.06 and the reading I took yesterday was 1.016. I figure this means its finished but I will wait another week , check it again and then decide whether to bottle or not. I feel pretty comfortable at this point that things are good.

    Safale S-04 question

I still haven't checked a gravity reading yet, but when I opened the fermenter ( ale pail) I found very little sign of krausen. ?This beer only has 4oz of hops in it so I don't know if that would have anything to do with it. If I take a gravity check and it doesn't look close to what it should...

    Safale S-04 question

I brew some beer last week ( 5 gal extract kit) and have a fermentation question. I allowed the wort to cool to a little under 75 deg. and then pitched the yeast. I held the temp at between 60 and 65 deg. I saw some action within the first 24hrs and it lasted maybe 2 days. As of the 5th day I'm...

Connecting a beer bottle to metal pipe fitting

I'm wondering if there is some sort of L.E.D. lamp socket and bulb that could be used to reduce heat as well as maybe be brighter.

Connecting a beer bottle to metal pipe fitting

I'm sure the fixture and bulb are the smaller socket and something like the flame style bulb. I was also thinking the fitting was maybe the dielectric fitting. I think as long as the nut side of the union fits over the neck of the bottle it would be just a matter of using some type of rubber...

Connecting a beer bottle to metal pipe fitting

That's what I've been looking to do. Have you tried to actually use that fitting?

Connecting a beer bottle to metal pipe fitting

Anyone know what type of fitting I would use to connect a beer bottle to metal pipe like black iron piping?

tell me about your experiences with mosaic hops

I did a Pale Ale using Citra in the boil and dry-hopped w/ Mosaic. This beer came out so awesome that I plan to make the next 2 batches the same way. Even the brewmaster at a local brewery was really impressed with it. All this and I did it with extract as I haven't invested in the equipment to...

    Kegerator as fermentation cabinet?

I recently bought a BevAir kegerator for $20. The door is rusted to the point it doesn't hang onto the cabinet and the top is loose due to rust. The tower seems as though it will be fine when time to use it and the refrigeration works great. What would be needed to use it as a fermentation...

Looking for Evolution's Lucky 7 Porter recipe

I would be willing to email it to you but I don't know if they would want me posting their recipe to the public. I also have the main recipe ,but, don't have the schedule for their dry hopping. I know what kinds of hops , just not the time line.

Looking for Evolution's Lucky 7 Porter recipe

Not on the Lucky 7 brew sheet. I have the brew sheet for Lot # that is for 1200 gals. I may get back there to see him in the next week or so. I don't know if they will give me the other brew sheet but will ask.

    Sessionable pale ale or IPA

govner1, When I posted the recipe I should have said ( in regards to the grains) "added pre-boil" They are the specialy grains that are steeped until the water is brought to 170*.

    Sessionable pale ale or IPA

Yooper, Are you familiar w/Butternuts Beer and Ale's Porkslap Pale ale? It comes in at 4.3%ABV. In that neighborhood would be great but your number is fine. I really like big citrusy hop profile. I recently made a Citra Pale ale , dry-hopped w/ Mosaic and LOVE it. If I could make a lower...

Sinking a muslin bag for dry hopping.

I've only dry-hopped once. What would be the need to sink the bag? When I did it the bag sunk at first and after a while started floating. Is sinking it supposed to increase the flavor/ aroma?

    Brewing outside, soot sucks!

If adjusting the shutter doesn't clear it up the other thing to try is to remove the burner from the frame work and turn it over. Tap it a few times to try to remove any crude that may be in the burner. Reassemble and try again. I had one that had rust particles in it from over the years...
