    Carbonation help needed.

I bottled my AG Maharaja IIPA clone 6 weeks ago and it has not carbed at all. ABV: 10.1% Yeast: San Diego Superyeast Volume: 5 gallons Priming Sugar: 4.2 oz. Corn Sugar When I transferred into my bottling bucket, I strained the beer with panty hose (I know...I know) to keep the...

    Brewing tonight question

What is the weight/temp of the grain you are adding.....that will determine the temp loss at strike. Also, how much water are you striking with?

The one time I forgot the blow off hose...

Then I'm in good company....brewed a IIPA over the weekend, OG 1.085 and pitched a massive starter.....Woke up the next morning to a clogged airlock, blown bucket lid and krausen everywhere......took me an hour to rig the blowoff and get the bucket in a water bath to control the fermentation...

    Water Analysis help

I primarily brew AG IPA's and would like insight on my water analysis. Below is what I was sent by my local water supply. Calcium (Ca) 28.62 Magnesium (Mg) 7.25 Sodium (Na) 53.58 Potassium (K) 0.00 Iron (Fe) 0.0963 Fluoride 1.39 Fluoride (F)

    New Belgium Rampant

One of my new favorites......It's a bit thin but the hops really come through because of the light body.......since you mentioned watermelon, I can get a bit of that in the aftertaste although maybe a bit more grapefruity.

    Bottling Day Question

I cold crashed my IPA for three days and I'm now ready to bottle. Should I let it return to room temp prior to bottling. I'm looking at all the priming calculators and I'm seeing that temp is important for the priming addition. I'll be storing the beer in the basement as it carbs, which is...

Thanks all for the info. freisste, thanks for the tip. That spigot is an easy thing to overlook, thanks for the caution!

    racking question

That's what i was hoping to hear. This way i can clean up the bucket and after dryhopping rack the beer back into it with primer and use the spigot to bottle.

    racking question

I'll be racking just over 5 gallons into a 6.5 gallon secondary. Is the 1.5 gallons of extra headspace an oxidation problem?

    Attenuation question

Thanks everyone, i appreciate the feedback. When i tasted it after 1 week, it seemed ok, not like solvent. It was hoppy and clean so hopefully everything is on track.

    Attenuation question

Fermentation started within 12 hours and stopped (at least bubbling in the airlock) at about 48 hours. No airlock activity at all after that. I had 5.25 gallons in a 7 gallon pail, krausen never hit the lid. Friday will be 2 weeks and I'll be racking to a secondary and dryhopping for 5 days...

    Attenuation question

Mashing was sketchy......after initial strike i was low at 147 (target was 151), took better part of an hour to get it up to target (don't ask, see my thread 'brew day fiasco!!). I used wlp001 which i used in a 2 liter stater (per mr malty and beersmith). Fermented in a closet at around 68 -...

    Attenuation question

I just brewed my first AG beer, an IPA. OG was 1.064, one week after pitch is 1.007. My question is, does the change in gravity tell me anything about whether my yeast pitch was correct or if i should expect any particular off-flavors, etc? New to brewing and trying to use this experience to...

    Best homebrewing books?

If you like IPA's, Mitch Steele's book is very good. He is the Brewmaster at Stone. The first half is heavy on the history of IPA's, then he gets into brewing techniques and recipes.

    Brew Day Fiasco!!

After all the trials and tribulation, everything seems to be on track. I measured the FG today, day 7. It measured out at 1.007, which appears to be very good attenuation as the OG was 1.064. Beersmith calculates 7.5 abv, projected was 7.4. Any advice on bottling? I'll be dryhopping over...
