    Aerate Secondary?

Thanks, I will do more research next time (and on this board). Honestly, I thought I had done ample research, I literally have read over 8 or 9 "lagering guides". I have read Joy of Homebrewing by Charlie Papazian cover to cover, and went back to several parts for reference in my first 4...

    Aerate Secondary?

K I will wait the full week before taking the first gravity reading. This is why I ask questions, I was under the impression that is part of this board brewinchef_fairfax? I have spent days and days reading up on how to lager, guess my comprehension is bad (I just went over the websites and...

    Aerate Secondary?

I don't know if Rack is the right word. I thought I was ready to put it in the secondary to lager in the cold. It has been sitting in my house at about 68 degrees for, actually almost 4 days now I guess. I was under the impression that you wanted to put it in the secondary after the krausen...

    Aerate Secondary?

Aerate when racking to secondary or not? My lager has been in the primary fermenter for about 3 days, I am ready to rack it and drop the temperature. Nowhere have I read where it says whether you should aerate again or not. I am assuming no, because most of the fermentation is over, and...

    How to pick a strain?

Thank you everyone! you answered most of my questions. I have been looking for somewhere to compare strains of yeast, similar to a few tables that compare hop aroma/flavors ect, and was having a hard time. I feel like an idiot not checking wyeast and whitelabs websites directly. I think I...

    How to pick a strain?

Hi, I have been having a great time venturing into the homebrew world. I have completed 4 ale batches, and a lager is currently in primary. I really enjoy learning about how all the different steps/ingredients affect the final outcome of the beer. I feel somewhat confident in what different...

    Bottler's: I commend you all

I was told that if you are sure to rinse well after finishing one off, then running through the dishwasher as hot as you could get it cleans/sanitizes pretty well. This was from a local homebrew shop. I like bottling 1 liter bottles, and I can fit more than a full 5 gallon batch with it.

    Can I still bottle?

I added my priming sugar + boiling water about 2 hours ago. I am not going to be able to bottle until 3 more hours, so 5 hours. Can I still bottle it and get decent carbonation? Or should I just wait for it to ferment and reprime in a couple days?

    repitch ok?

My first batch took almost exactly 72 hours to really get started. I think it was because I didn't aerate properly, I don't know. Point is, Revvy is right, give it some time.

Need some help with a partial mash Stout

Quick synopsis of my experience since I'm new to the forum (been lurking however). I have made two batches of beer in about 1 month time. The first was a Orange Honey Blossom Wheat recipe at my local homebrew store. This used extract, honey, and wheat grain for fermentables. Second (which is...
