Nothing on my end either. Does anyone know if they went with medals or ribbons?

I'm definitely heading down next year. I'll buy you a round if I see you, bro.

It's in Pittsburgh this year so hopefully they will do a good job. You could always enter a different region.

Did you enter NHC round 1 (northeast region) last year? Now that was crazy. They needed like a month somehow to judge 750 entries because they pushed it back several times and even then they didnt judge two of my beers. I was furious.

Yeah? That's too bad. I have had good experiences with this competition, but have never been able to attend. You should probably cut them some slack because I'm sure they got way more entries then they were expecting.

    Pliny Substitute

I wouldn't say it differs that much unless we are talking about freshness. Most breweries strive to put out a consistent product and Pliny tends to Be fairly consistent when fresh.

Unless I put that GC towards a new Blichmann brew kettle....

Thanks! 2nd year in a row. I was pretty surprised actually since the Pils that won it was only 4 weeks old (1 week in the keg). I'll post the Munich Dunkel recipe when I get home.

I got two 1st place wins and BOS. I was hoping for the signed book, but I think they are just gonna send the $100 gift certificate since its easier to mail (not that I'm complaining of course) :-)

    Pliny Substitute

I think Evil Cousin is waaaay danker than Pliny. It has different hops as well. It tastes like Heretic uses Summit as well which I don't think Pliny uses (probably mostly American citrus hops)

    Pliny Substitute

I agree with Scott. I've had both beers several times and I actually prefer Firestone Double Jack. I had them side by side at a bar in LA (both fresh examples which is VERY important) and both me and my buddy chose DJ. I probably could have gone the other way as well. They are fairly close...

I have to say that this is definitely one of the best competitions in New York. The lady at the UPS store messed up my address and I contacted the organizers and they were more than helpful about getting my beer package if it ended up in the wrong hands. They contacted me immediately after...

Still waiting on mine. Really wish I was there for the prize ceremony...

    Can't find Corny tools

Heh, funny because I went to AutoZone and had the same exact thing happen

Thanks, RDW. Now I have something specific to go with and I'll be heading to sears tomorrow. Now, will that work on both 12 point and hex posts?

    Can't find Corny tools

I tried to take mine apart using several wrenches and various other methods. It wouldn't budge and I striped the posts. I need the correct tools to move them.

    Adding color to fermented beer

Yeah....I won't take my chances. Even if my practices are clean, the less you move your beer around the better. The reason I don't get infections is because I minimize the transfer and exposure of my beer. Not to mention oxidation. I'm not the type to add back my hydro samples either. No bueno...

Hmm, went to Lowe's and HD and they both had no idea. Guess they didn't know their stuff. Thanks for the feedback
