    Storing Omega PHH-7000 meter

I know this is an old thread, but I have run into the same issue with Omega. Their tech folks confirmed that when the ‘soaker’ solution is gone, I am to use 4 or 7 buffer. I did order a new probe, and notice large bubbles midway up. I think this is indeed a case where the solution is to just...

Hornindal Kveik is blowing my mind

I feel the same way about it, ok but doesn’t grab me.

    Canadian Roll Call!!

Eric - you judged one of my beers. My first competition, which meant of course that I had two disasters leading up to it. My pumpkin didn’t place with 35 scores (mistake?), and I got second with a dismal German wheat. It is a go-to beer for me, but something went horribly wrong in my rushed...

    Starsan Caps $uck!

I thought it was just me, happens to me all the time. They always end up ringed in duct tape to hold them together.

parts list for home depot 10g cooler mash tun

It am actually going to +1 Bobby on this, I wasted way too much time driving to 3 different hardware stores to find matching fittings. The braided hose is a miracle, it works incredibly well for me.

What is the stuff that floats on top called?

Total NooB and it's already becoming too much

I started brewing in the late 80s, and living in an apartment and being intimidated by the complexity stuck with extract. Finally, after way over-thinking it, I tried all-grain not that long ago. It is way simpler than I thought it would be. To make an award-winning stylistically perfect beer...

    Warning: Don't dry hop a carb'd keg!!

It is very hard on the tongue cleaning all that beer off the floor.

n00b - this is what I am thinking of going with

If this is not too late, I quickly found that my all grain day was about the same amount of time regardless of batch size. I upgraded to a 10 gallon setup, and gave my old brew pot away. Something to think about.

    Chilling Completely

I do exactly what you do, let the freezer squeeze out the last few degrees.

    Shattered

I used the same glass carboys since I started in the late 80s with never a problem. Then last summer my 20 year old nicked one on the garage floor and it shattered, luckily while empty. I couldn't believe it for such a small scratch. Now I am using plastic, I kept two of the glass for aging...

Blow off tube not in water

I was touring a brewery in Belgium this summer, and looked at the large, open tanks they fermented in. I asked if they ever got infections, and the Brewer looked at me like I was crazy. Odds are good that you are fine.
