Fixing a pinhole in a corny

I personally wouldn't try jb weld. I doubt it is food grade, and I would hate to see the mess if it leaks out overnight. Silver solder would be your best bet for diy, but it may not be sanitary, which could cause problems. I don't know what a local shop would charge to weld it, but it still...

    Check out these sanitary welds

I have only welded triclover fittings in kegs. I cannot imagine how difficult it would be to weld a heavy coupler to an 18 gauge keg. It would just be putting heat into the collar, and whipping it down to the keg. A very dirty dance with the devil really. I wish I could get my hands on some...

    Criterion Freezer reset time?

I was looking at the Criterion freezers at Menards. I noticed that the manual says that if the unit loses power that you have to wait 3 to 5 minutes to restart it, or it won't run. Is this common, and would it be an issue with a Randco ETC? It seems like if it cycled too soon for some reason...

    Check out these sanitary welds

Glad to see that this thread helped you out. Those look much better, and they won't trap liquid like the others.

    Check out these sanitary welds

Here is a good example of fit, but a poor example of welding. The fitting should slip inside the kettle so it is flush with the inside. I will also admit that this was my first attempt at welding on a keg.

    Check out these sanitary welds

His welding isn't too bad, but he was obviously struggling a little. He really did drop the ball on the fit-up, but in reality, even the spikes kettle in the pic isn't sanitary. I would consider having him weld the inside of that nut, just to seal it off. There should be enough room since no...

Max length tubing for March Pump

According to this calculator it would siphon around 2 gallons a minute in half inch hose. It should be more than adequate if you added a pump.

Max length tubing for March Pump

It definitely won't damage the pump, it would just be a matter of sizing the hose to get the desired flow rate. I would think that you could get a pretty good flow even from 1/2" hose. I personally would not be thrilled to have that much hose to deal with.

    Floating Heating Element

That is actually a darn good idea, and the uses are endless. I'm sure many more people will say it is scary and dangerous, but with understanding and respect it could be as safe as any other method. Now that I think about it, my sous vide circulation heater should probably be put to use in my...

    Kettle drain guidance?

Well, I haven't brewed in several years and now I have a serious itch. I have a keggle with a 2" triclover drain, and I need to make a diptube for it. It's only use will be for 5 gallon extract batches, and pellet hops in a bag. I have never used a keg or a hop bag before, so I'm not sure...

    The new DIY stainless fermenter

The welder didn't purge the vessel. It really isn't surprising though, argon is expensive. Did he just weld a patch over the vertical seam?
