Fuggles and Willamette in same recipe - good or bad?

Thanks for the great responses. I'm pretty confident working with grains, but the hops side of things still seem like a bit of a black art. What I've decided to do is to use 1 oz of Fuggles for bittering at 60 minutes and 1.5 oz Willamette near the end of the boil, say 10 minutes or so for...

Fuggles and Willamette in same recipe - good or bad?

I'm working on a northern English brown ale recipe and I have some Fuggles and Willamette hops in the fridge. Is it a good idea to use both (for armoa in this case), or are they too similar to use in the same recipe. And if you think I should swap one of them out, any suggestions? Thanks in...

    Water Filter Setup

Thanks to the original poster for the instructions. I picked up the parts and made one of these water filters today. I omitted the swivel and the quick disconnect, but otherwise the rig is identical. Total cost was $68. I hope to try it out when I brew next week. I can't wait.

Seeking opinions on all-grain brown ale recipe

This is my first attempt at doing a recipe from scratch. Using Beersmith, this looks to be in the style range of an American brown ale. When I started, the only thing I wanted to do, was use some of the hops I have in the fridge. I've got Magnum leaf, Fuggles pellets and Willamette pellets. I...

Fermentation stalleled - another panicked brewer

I think you may have hit on the problem. I added a little more vodka to the airlock and sure enough, six hours later, there's pressure in the fermenter and the airlock is bubbling away again. My guess is that the vodka either evaporated, or enough of it was sucked into the fermenter during...

Fermentation stalleled - another panicked brewer

Thanks guys. I figured I was overreacting. I just needed someone to pat me on the head and say, "There, there. It will be OK. Relax, don't worry, have a homebrew." :mug:

Fermentation stalleled - another panicked brewer

Hello all, My brother and I Brewed an all-grain Maple Porter on Saturday 10/13. It sitting in our primary fermenter, a 6-gal plastic bucket in my basement. The airlock was bubbling away on Sunday at about 2-3 bubbles per second until 6 p.m. Then it went silent. I stood down there for 5...
