    Georgia roll call

Since I missed the last G2G, I'm deffinately up for the next one, but I still have a heavy schedule. Between the Georgia Force games and me trying to get the bike back together after a major overhall, not to mention getting a treehouse and sandbox built for the kids, I'm pretty busy. Keep me...

So what caused its second wind?

Brewed an English Brown on Mon night. After pitching the yeast, it took a couple hours longer to get started than my first two batches but by the morning, every thing looked normal with a nice, even layer of kraeusen. I thought it was done, but, by the time I got home from work, it had started...

    26hours

This is my first English Brown and my third batch over-all. The amount of activity blows the first two batches away and to say I'm amazed is a complete understatment. Can't wait to see how this one turns out.

    Re-pitched - still dead

Trying to brew a robust porter from AHB. OG was .06 and should have been around .057 so I was good there. Pitched the supplied yeast (Muntons Ale #00391) and fermentation took off like a rocket, just like the first batch of german hefe we did. The difference is that when major activity stopped...

Atlanta Area HBT Meet and Drink 2/23

Sorry it took so long to get in on this (and thanks to Brewiz for the PM) but I think I'll have to sit this one out. Between the NFL and AFL at the Dome and Phillips, I do alot of weekend work. I'd love to do it but this is a short break for me and right now I'm trying to get some much needed...

    Fermentation causes HEAT???

I opened the window that it sits under, outside temp is 55 right now. That should help, without me sloshing it around. Rich

...so I'm guessing nothing to worry about?

    Fermentation causes HEAT???

Brewed a AHB London Porter last night and everything went smooth but I noticed that while it sits next to a wheat that's in secondary at 71 degrees, the porter is tipping the scales at a blistering 76 degrees. That's at the end of the high side of the scale. Do I need to move this outside to...

    Racking to secondary

Would it be a bad idea to rack to a temperary vessel in order to clean the primary vessel and then re-rack to it again to be used for secondary. The reason I ask is the bucket i have is pretty scratched up and I dont want to take any chances. Plus, I want to be able to see whats going on...

so how long should major activity last?

Thanks guys. I just got home and checked again. 1 bpm and it's already starting to settle and clear up. It's all happening much faster than I expected and I suspect that I won't allways experience these same types of results depending on the style of beer I choose. Rich

so how long should major activity last?

Just did our first batch two days ago (Saterday). Into the carboy at 3:00. Now, I didn't expect to see any activity untill the next day but by 4:00, I was counting 1 bubble every 10 seconds and stuff was allready churning around. By the next morning at 11:00, activity had grown to a steady 70-80...

    Georgia roll call

You should have seen it here recently. With the drout and all, I think it got down to about 7 ft below full pool. It's back to full pool now but for a while, entire coves were dry. Quite a few boats were beached and still moored to their docks. Rich

    Georgia roll call

That would have to be what used to be called Port Armor. It has since been taken over by Rhynolds and is now called Rhynolds Landing. Good luck trying to get back in there again. We will deffinatly talk about that later. You read my mind. Less than an hour drive for most who have responded...

I agree. Also, where do you like to launch from. I'm just around the corner from the GA Power park on Parks Mill. Parks Ferry I think it is. Let me know the next time you put in. I wouldn't mind seeing her sail. I'm familliar with Covington, what area? Rich
