    Rye IPA Recipe Review

Thanks for the reply. I've actually never first wort hopped, wanted to give it a try. With the schedule you proposed (which intrigues me) what are your hop quantities?

    Infection?

This stout has been chugging along solid for three days. Beautiful krausen that dropped after a day and a half, now these little crusty looking islands popped up. Haven't seen this is a brew yet. What do you think? Thanks!

Third day of fermentation for this stout with whitbread 1099....beautiful krausen for a day and a half then dropped, then these little islands startd showing. Haven't seen this in any of my brews. What does this look like to all of you? Thanks!

    Secondary Fermentation

Take a picture. Chances are its nothing. Make sure you have checked your gravity readings and they are at target and stable. After that, use northern brewers priming calculator (Google priming sugar calculator...it's the first hit) to figure out how much priming you need, as to not over carb...

    First time kegged homebrew

Ist wanted to share a photo of my first kegged brew! Thanks all for the help on this Black IPA beauty. Good malt profile and citrusy hop balance....could've gone bigger on the bitterness...we win some, we win a little less on others. Hope you're all having a good one! CHEERS

    Stuck fermentation

Good sir.....thank you! I actually dropped my hydro last night, that's why I was refractometeringinging. Excuse me, I'm a little tipsy on more homebrew. I'm going to pick one up tomorrow.

    Stuck fermentation

Hey all, I brewed on Sunday (9/22) and it went really well! Hit my target OG on the dot at 1.069, made a nice little yeast starter, pitched at 70degrees, has been sitting fermenting at 69 degrees with a great krausen for about 4 days. Activity slowed yesterday (9/26) so I took a reading with...

    9 gallon square cooler

Hey all, Hope you had a fiiiiiiine weekend. I'm making the jump to all grain and recently found a 9 gallon square cooler. I keep seeing 10 gallon 10 gallon 10 gallon for bigger beers, everywhere, but in your opinion (to save some dough) will this be an adequate size for 5 gallon batches? Over...

Black IPA: suggestions comments highly appreciated! (Be gentle)

Thanks petie...do you think the bu:gu is appropriate? Is the 2 oz of chinook at the 60 too intense, or should I move one of the two oz's at the 30 min with the simcoe? After this review I hope to brew this weekend!

Black IPA: suggestions comments highly appreciated! (Be gentle)

Thanks a lot guys! You're really helping me with thinking through a recipe formulation.....something I am just getting into after kits and clones. If you have any online resources, let me know! Here is an update of the recipe. I really like the idea of chocolate rye. Do you think the amount I...

    Boil size questions

I frequent other brewers recipes and see that most of them have boil sizes larger than I am able to do. As a top off extract/partial mash brewer I am aware of the formula of appropriate top of levels to achieve gravity. This does apply to all recipes, correct? Sorry for the ******* question...

Too much priming sugar? What now?

If you are asking to me: prepackaged five ounce sugar, then weighed with food scale.
