Moving back to extract brewing, is there a best set-up?

You could always just sell the Solo's basket to recoup some funds. I'm sure someone here would buy it. Plus weight and handling. A 5 gallon kettle with 2.5-3.5 gallons of wert in it is going to be much easier to handle and lift than 5 gallons in a 10 gallon kettle.

    Keg Post Question

Same here. No tape on my posts. The dip tube O-rings should suffice. I can't find it, but there was a recent thread where someone commented the differences between the dip-tube O ring and the variety of poppet valves used on a particular keg could cause some sealing problems. The threads on the...

    Warm Fermented Lager Thread

Mother's Day? 😕 I brewed a Mexi-lager with Que Bueno once. That should be the same as the WLP940. My intent was to pressure ferment at 15psi at 65F (basement temps). I don't know if my All Rounder has a cracked lid or what, but I never could get it to seal that day and my fermentation temp was...

    Flotit

Great point. The 2.0 has the tube off center in the float, so that helps keep the inlet in the wert. That's the one I have.

    1-Gallon Brewers UNITE!

Save your money. Go to a bakery or the bakery dept in a grocery store and you can get cake icing buckets (2,3,5 gallon) for free. Most of the time, they are throwing away their empties. Some of the nicer bakers will even rinse the buckets out for you.

    Warm Fermented Lager Thread

That's always been hard for me to do. I've had some beers taste great out of the gate, so once they are carbed up I can't wait to let it taste better. My Achilles' heal I guess....

    Keg parts question

Yeah, well I'm gonna download it anyways just to be sure. Thanks for the PDF @day_trippr

Using left over in the fermenter immediately for the next batch.

I did that at one time. Instead of pouring the wort onto the yeast cake in the old fermenter, I poured the slurry from the old fermenter into a new (clean/sanitized) fermenter full of fresh chilled wort. Fermentation took off in just a couple of hours!

    $12 dry yeast for beer?

LOL! Okie dokie then. Two questions from me (and no, one of them isn't "what's up with that sarcasm?" ;) ) 1) What are the differences you're tasting? 2) In the end, does those differences make the yeast worth double the cost of the competitor? Count me in as another vote that would like to...

Turning your Fermonster into a complete closed transfer system for cheap!

If you have enough spare kegs, you could just do an 8 gallon batch split to two 5 gallon kegs to help tie you over until you're able to brew again. It's cheaper than buying a 6 gallon keg.

    Spring 2024 Corny Keg Giveaway

I need another keg like I need a hole in the head. What the hell....I'm game. My last batch was a make shift Mexican lager that turned out pretty good.

Turning your Fermonster into a complete closed transfer system for cheap!

Can't argue that. Speaking for myself, I've thought about buying a Fermonster or two and do the "Fermhead" mod like Broken Crow's. I'd keep the new ones (way) under 10psi like I did my old ones. A stiffer lid is just peace of mind for me. I don't like to tempt fate. But wouldn't that be a...

    Pat Mack's home brewing caps

They may not even be available. I saw this thread come up when sifting through new posts, and well, it made me curious. I did a quick search which led me to Pat's FB page. A couple of FB posts referenced a website homebrewingcaps.com as the source, but that domain is up for sale. I did found...

Turning your Fermonster into a complete closed transfer system for cheap!

Thought the same thing yesterday. A 3D printed lid would be stronger, but I'd prefer a metal one though 🤘

Turning your Fermonster into a complete closed transfer system for cheap!

Just curious Broken Crow. Did you get all of that at Amazon? What is the overall height of your Fermonster with the Fermhead attached?

Turning your Fermonster into a complete closed transfer system for cheap!

What about just transferring at a lower pressure? You guys seem brave pushing the Fermonsters to 10psi. When I had mine, I never went above 2-3psi when transferring.

    EVA Barrier Length

I've gotten most of mine from Brewhardware.com (aka Bobby M's store). William's Brewing and More Beer also carry the EVA Barrier/Duotight and most of Kegland's products. I think William's is Kegland's US distributor.

    Northern Brewer - Buyer Beware

That's weird. I'm in TN, so I may get my orders from MB in 4-5 days. Not super fast like you say, but neither is Amazon Prime if that makes you feel better. I've thought about letting my Prime account expire.

    Northern Brewer - Buyer Beware

Seems like it's always on Northern Brewer too. The worst experience I had from NB was getting a severely mangled box that has the contents spilled out. Luckily, the bags containing the all grain kits were not breached. My email to them was to ***** about UPS more than NB and I didn't consider...
