    American Lager J-stone' springtime lager

YES, women have different taste in beer on average(in my experience). The reason that I don't "lager" this beer is becouse this is a brew to drink in just over a month, that and it's extract, it cleans up in two weeks. My AG batches that are a premium style pilsner beer I lager for about four...

    American Lager J-stone' springtime lager

Just becouse you don't brew All-Grain, doesn't mean that you can't make good beer. I enjoy both brewing styles. Extract is great if you don't have a lot of time or energy. This is the beer that EVERYONE will like. Almost BMC'ish. This is the one that everyone says"you made this"? DO...

Hello all, I have just done my third AG batch. After my first batch came out at 74% and my second batch was 72%, I found out that my thermometer was off. After calibrating to an oproximated temp, it would seem that my efficiency has skyrocketed. 9 lbs 6row US .5 lb Carafoam After sparging...

    Efficiency; equation help please

So, after my first AG batch I would like to know what my efficiency was. I tried running the numbers myself and I must be wrong. 2-Row Malt 9lbs carafoam 0.5lb OG about 1.058 I came up with 80%, is that right?

Forgot to take gravity reading after boil

I did my first AG brew the other day and have a question. By the time I was done with my boil, I forgot to take my OG reading:o. I did however take a reading before boil. My before boil gravity was 1.038 at 6.75-7 US gal. After boil volume was 4.5 gal. (I got a little carried away and did not...

    Wheels Brewing

Hello all. My situation is not unlike many, I once was strong, and now am dissabled. I was once a very happy comercial metal stud framer, now I am a disgruntled mechanical engineering student. One thing has stayed the same, though, my love of beer. So, without being able to buy the beer that I...

Dumping new wort in un-washed fermenter

Thankyou all. I will cut the yeast cake down to about a third???? I am currently brewing at 47 deg F, I know, it's kinda low but I bought a fridge for $15 and that's were it likes to be. I normally have an OG of about 1.045-1.050. I'm using Wyeast Urquell yeast but can't keep spending $6 every...

Dumping new wort in un-washed fermenter

I am a person who has a hard time getting around, any shortcut is worth taking. Question: can I dump a fresh batch of wort into a fermenter right after racking off the beer, and leaving the yeast cake? will this work instead of a yeast starter? Please only real answers, no BS. Thankyou in...

Moving Sanfran Lager yeast to cold

I had the temporary use of some space, I now have a fridge and have been kicked out of that space. ( I am in a wheelchair and forced to live with parents, this is actually why I'm brewing beer, I can't afford the beers of my choice anylonger, so I will brew it myself:mug:)

    Wlp810

I was fermenting in a garage, so I surched out a yeast for warmer temps. Now I have a refrigerator and have to ferment in it. It's not my garage and space is a premium.

Moving Sanfran Lager yeast to cold

I am being kicked out of my garage for brewing, I am now in a shop. I have a refrigerator that cannot go above 47 F. My question is, If I started a pilsner with a Whitelabs Sanfrancisco Lager yeast, and I move it to 47 F, will it still ferment??? If it takes longer, that's OK, the next batch...

    Watering down beer post-fermentation

I am physically dissabled, I am in a wheelchair, I cannot drink anything higher than about 3%ABV withoutr SERIOUS reprecutions. I also cannot lift anything heavier than 5 US gallons. So, If I can brew 7-8 gal from 5 gallons, and still have it taste like a decent beer for cheep, than that's what...

    Watering down beer post-fermentation

I have a batch that is to strong for social drinking,( I like to drink beer, but don't like to get falldown drunk) I was going to water down half of it when I bottle in 5 days. I plan on boiling the water to remove oxygen. My question is, how much water do I add to 2.5 US gal. at 4.6ABV if I...
