    Recipe Critique

Yooper, just to give you an update. The beer, surprisingly, smells and tastes fantastic. I kegged it today. It's got 2 more weeks in the keg, but so far, so good. Instead of Citra I changed the hops (additions copied below) and added a lb of chocolate malt. It really has turned out...

    What are you drinking now?

For the record...I know that is a half gallon in the photo. I had 2 growlers at the start of the day, and drank both of them. It took me all day to finish both growlers, and I finished strong!!! GINGER'S BREWING Chicago, Il

I am a hard sell, but I like this. 1825, Belgian Strong, by Greenbush brewery. Amazing! Just drank a gallon, and happy with every drop! GINGER'S BREWING Chicago, Il

    Recipe Critique

Thanks Yooper, and you are 100% correct. I am pretty much making this beer to use up the grains I have in stock. Which is why you see the small quantities. I have never tried to make a beer like this. I would normally use plenty of crystal malts to get my amber/red color. I will be removing the...

    Recipe Critique

Hey all. I am working on a recipe and could use some help. I know this is not a typical red, but I think this will turn out like a red ale with a more roasty flavor. How does this recipe look? Any suggestions to make it better? BIAB Method, 90 min boil. Ingredients: 12 lbs pale malt 4 oz...

    Over flowing fermenter!

Debrouwer, I put the water in there to see if my makeshift blow off tube had any leaks. It didn't...lol. There is no reason to empty it at this point...it's not hurting anything. Seems like the smaller tubing is working for the moment. If I see any major issues with pressure build up or...

    Over flowing fermenter!

How does this look? I made this very quickly out of spare brewing parts. Sorry about the Mickey Mouse towel. My daughter helped me out! GINGER'S BREWING Chicago, Il

    Over flowing fermenter!

I need some help. What should I do about a fermenter that is over flowing? I pitched the yeast yesterday late afternoon, and it's going nuts! Take a look at the photo and let me know what I should do. Thanks in advance. Sent from my iPhone using Home Brew

    Keg Question (size)

    Thanks for the info.

    Keg Question (size)

Hey all, Can anyone tell me if there is a smaller option than a corny keg? When asking, I am not referring to gallon size. I am looking for a keg that is smaller than an 8" diameter base. I do not care what type of connection either (ball, sanke, pin). My buddy gave me his stout (n)...

    I need a recipe!

Yesterday, I brewed the Demonic Possession recipe. Though, I made a huge mistake! I underestimated how much grain was in that bill. I couldn't keep the mash temps at the correct levels because I over filled my 5 gal. mash tun. My gravity readings were on target...I hope it turns out. I will...

    I need a recipe!

Nice! Thanks for ideas. I am going to try the redheaded stepchild. Considering I am a ginger.

    I need a recipe!

I am looking for a recipe to utilize the grains and hops I have left from my past 3 brews. Current inventory: Briess 2-row (approx. 25 lbs.), T & F dark crystal (.5 lbs), T & F roasted barley (.75 lbs.) and plenty of Simcoe and Centennial hops. Any help would be great!

    My first cider

Thanks for the info. This is helpful. The part about the "1.5 gals" was a typo. I am currently at 1.045 for my gravity reading after 4.5 weeks. Fermentation is going slow, but it worried me that it was soo active. I have never made a cider.

    Show us your Kegerator

I really like the size of that kegerator. What did you use as the base freezer/fridge?

    My first cider

Ok. I am on almost 4.5 weeks into fermentation and my airlock is going insane, and I am only at 4.5 abv (looking for 6.2%). I know I can wait, but I have lost almost 1.5 gals on a 4 gal batch. I see that as a problem. Is there any reason I shouldn't cold crash to make this a "bottlable...
