    Am I over-oxygenating my wort?

Thanks murphyslaw! That is what I will do from now on....

    Am I over-oxygenating my wort?

MaxStout, that makes perfect sense. If it is bubbling, it is escaping the wort. Sometimes the simplest things escape me. Yes, I am using a 2-micron stone. I will slow things down some and see what happens. Thanks much for your quick (and common sense) reply.

    Am I over-oxygenating my wort?

I used to use an aquarium pump to aerate my wort. Within the last couple of years I have started using the disposable oxygen bottles at the hardware store. They work great, but I am using a whole bottle on two batches of beer. At over $10/bottle, I can't afford to keep doing this. Am I just...

    Modifying water for double mash

This is a full-volume mash so I will be mashing in the same strike water. The reason for the double-mash is the size of my mash tun/boil kettle. Although I suppose I could do it as you suggest and boil much longer to reduce my volume into fermenter...

    Modifying water for double mash

All, I also posted this in the BIAB thread. I am doing a double mash this week for a 10% barleywine. I have done this a few times now with good results. However, I recently moved to a new area and have started modifying my water with Epsom Salt, Calcium Chloride and Gypsum. I use EZ Water...

    110 pounds of Pilsner !

Greenteaturtle, can you post a pic of your setup? Sure would like to see it. I've been brewing for 20 years and I am still on a five gallon rig. Suits me just fine...I would've gotten into a lot of trouble with a 40 gallon rig.

    Indiana Fully automated Electric Brewery

tope472, A few questions? 1. Did you build the BCS/PID? 2. How long have you been using the system as built? I sold my gas fired HERMS setup a couple years ago when we moved from Washington. We are waiting right now to close on a house in NW Georgia and I am looking forward to brewing again...

    Yeast starter

I planned on brewing this past Saturday and made a yeast starter on Thursday. Instead, my weekend was full replacing the timing belt in my wife's car. I put the yeast starter in my kegerator at 34 deg. I am assuming I should have no problem using it this coming weekend. Any thoughts? Thanks...
