    Apple Bee (Woodchuck Clone)

I'm going to add a pound of light brown sugar to your recipe, I got the grains listed in the first post only. It'll darken the color a bit and add quite a few points the FG. I'll be sure to record it and let you know what I come up with. The new woman is a big cider fan and really likes what...

Should I remove some of the yeast cake prior to pitching on it?

+1 to yeast cakes I put a Dunkelweizen on the yeast cake of WLP480 that was used for a Hefeweizen and its fermenting like a champion, I suggest using a blow off tube instead of airlock as my airlock got blown off within eight hours of pitching. Not only that, in the few minutes it took my...

    Dunkles Weissbier Weihenstephaner Dunkel Clone

I made this tonight and my OG was a few points low (1.051) and I didn't have any DME on hand to boost it. It should turn okay, right?

Ever notice ones you go all grain, it consumes you?

My name is Kevin and I have a brewing problem. I can't say no to Cornys, malted grain, or the opportunity to construct another piece of equipment. Anyone got a 1/2 bbl keg they're willing to give up so I can make a new, larger Lauter Tun?

    Lazy magnolia's southern pecan

I'm not sure about a sweeter pecan beer, Lazy Mag has hit it on the head IMHO. I couldn't imagine it getting much better. Then again, I might be biased towards the local brewery...

    Lazy magnolia's southern pecan

Abita's Pecan Harvest tastes completely different to me, its lighter in color and seems to have a different hop profile. I actually think it may be a lager.

    Lazy magnolia's southern pecan

Alabrew in Birmingham, AL has an AG clone of this. It comes really, really close to the real deal.

American Pale Ale Bee Cave Brewery Haus Pale Ale

I made this as my third AG brew today. Hit my OG and its the cheapest thing I've made in a long, long time. Hopefully its tasty! Thanks for sharing this one, Ed.

    Who's Brewing This Weekend (3/14-16)

I'm making an AG Hefeweizen. Its supposedly a Paulaner clone but I'm using White Labs WLP380 instead of WLP300 as that's all my LHBS had in stock. I'm think of trying triple decoction for this batch. Any suggestions?

    WORST Non-homebrew you've had!

The worst is "Rock Ice" from Cervezcaria Costa Rica, I'm not even sure what that stuff is! All I know is that it tastes terrible (not even like malt or hops), has an oily mouth feel, and is incredibly heavy for being the color of a pilsner. Its worse than Colt .45, even!

    Kegging AG Hefeweizen?

How long should I let this one age after its through with primary before I carbonate and start drinking? I made an extract hefe and bottled it a couple of years ago, it was pretty tasty but had nothing on the real Paulaner.

    Kegging AG Hefeweizen?

I intend on kegging a batch of AG Hefeweizen in a couple of weeks and I've noticed that commercial kegged hefe's don't have much in the way of cloudiness like their bottled counterparts do. Will I just have to give up on that characteristic of the beer in exchange for the ease of kegging...

    Strange Gravity w/Honey Brown Ale

Hi guys, This is my third AG batch and my gravity is something very, very strange. First, I'll start with the recipe: American Style Pale Ale Mat 7 lb. Wildflower Honey 2 lb. Munton's Chocolate 4 oz. Weyermann Light Munich 8 oz. Target 6 aau @ 60 minutes Cascade .5 oz @ 5 minutes...

Buying brewing equipment at a non-HB store....

Anyone know where to get a good floating thermometer? I've looked and have been unsuccessful so far.

    Splitting up the grain bill?

I've got a keggle and a good burner so boiling isn't the problem. I'm just nervous about relying on DME to make up the efficiency. Does anyone have a good article to read on it?

    Splitting up the grain bill?

Is it really that difficult to get good wort when batch sparging big beers? My first foray into AG was with a red ale that has more flocculation and fermentation started earlier than my extract brews. As for why I'm an AG fan, the truth of the matter is that I'm a poor recent college grad...

    Splitting up the grain bill?

In an effort to keep AG start up costs low, I used a 5 gallon picnic cooler that I ready had for my MLT. Turns out it won't take more than 10 lb of grain with 1.25 qt/lb of water without overflowing. I'm wanting to make some Imperial and dark brown ales that have 14-18 pound grain bills and...

    Arduino for kegerator temperature control.

Thanks scoates. The code helped visualize things much easier. Unfortunately, I think my LM34CZ is bum. It's putting out 1.008V at around 66F, which is 100.8( unless I'm being a noob(quite likely) since I'm converting of 10mv = 1F). It's sat there next to the cold floor's air current and not...
