Number of bottles produced--is this off?

Yeah, I guess the ingredient part is next on the list. My two batches have been extracts and the only ingredients have been the syrup and three bags of pellets. Oh, and water. Still trying to figure out how to read the beer recipes and what I need exactly. Next on the list.

Number of bottles produced--is this off?

That's what I figured. Better to be satisfied than greedy. On a different note--your pic beneath your name is darn near identical to the view we have from our dock here at home. Cheers.

Number of bottles produced--is this off?

Ok, my first batch yielded 42 bottles, as did the second. I was under the impression that a single five gallon batch would be around fifty. Now, of course, eight less may be seen as nitpicky, but come on---eight beers is eight beers. I understand the mathematics of it, and the displacement from...

    safe to drink when?

Alright, brewed my second batch of beer--a munich amber something or other--and things got busy so it sat in the primary for three weeks. I bottled last night and now comes the waiting. By the way, I didn't do secondary because I don't have a carboy yet. Anyway, I was wondering how long I...

    chilling the bottles--timeline

Oh, I forgot to ask--what's wrong with having too much headspace?

So I should get a carboy for the secondary? Alright. Glad you mentioned that because I was going to have to get another food grade six and a half gallon bucket.

    chilling the bottles--timeline

Ok, I've had a batch sitting in bottles roughly three weeks. I may not have enough room in the fridge for all of them, but I assume it is ok to leave bottles at room temp for a while? Also, as mentioned in a another thread of mine, I will be using a secondary for the next batch. When I...

When is too late for secondary

All good news--thanks for the replies. I am a worrier by nature, and it is good to know that this whole homebrew thing is more laid back than I imagined. And, yes, i know . . . . . RDWHAHB. Cheers.

When is too late for secondary

I am just getting into all this--my second batch is fermenting now--but I have a question about secondary. According to the book, secondary should begin two or three days after visible signs of fermenting have stopped. I of course, decided this weekend--six days after putting second batch into...

mixed signals on fermenting and other stuff

Ok, good to know. But I was under the impression that I could tell fermentation was complete when the airlock stopped that little bubbling action for a few days. Gee, can you tell I'm a noob?--"Bubbling thing." Thanks.

mixed signals on fermenting and other stuff

Ok, I bottled my first batch two weeks ago yesterday and had a few last weekend--a week and a half after a bottling. They were really good, so I am pleased. More on that in another thread. But I have a question about fermenting. The guy I bough the stuff from told me to let it ferment NO MORE...

    First Batch!

Ah, a fair and true reply. I'll let you know how wide the brew gods' smiles are when I open the first bottle next week. Cheers

    First Batch!

Sorry for the delayed reply--it was a Pale Ale--some sort of Sierra Nevada Clone.

    How long do they last?

Damn, I'm excited enough to taste my first batch--I doubt I'll have to worry about this at all. Appreciate the help and advice, though. And by the way, there's a famous (infamous?) mental hospital in my town, so I believe I'll call it Straightjacket Ale. Nice.

    How long do they last?

I'm new at this, bottled my first batch today (woo-hoo!). Anyhoo, I have a question. Now, this is not to say that I will have any problems drinking my brew and sharing it with friends, but I have already ordered a new recipe and can already for see a fridge full of beer, swapping one taste of...

    First Batch!

The bottling--from time I started sanitizing--until I bottles were put away to carbonate and the kitchen was cleaned--about two hours. It was a solo mission, and I learned a thing or two, but needless to say, I am excited. I came out with 46 bottles total, which I think is pretty good. I had...

    First Batch!

I just wanted to tell someone (and who better to tell than all the fine folks in this room) that my first batch of beer is bottled, as of fifteen minutes ago. I was pleased, that it smelled like I'd hoped. Of course taste is another matter. Now the wait begins but the hard part is over--already...

    bottle sanitation

Alright, I've been saving bottles for my first batch ever, rinsing them out. Now, the best way to sanitize? I know to clean them out with bottle brush, etc., but how do I make certain that no germs or anything get in there before the bottling occurs/ What are the best bottle sanitizing methods?

    Bottle cap sanitation

Sounds easy enough--thanks! :ban: I just like the dancing banana
