    Erlenmeyer vs Round Bottom Flask

Sorry, I should clarify. The flasks actually have a flat bottom only with rounded sides, rather than sloping sides. So they would still sit flat, they just aren't the Erlenmeyer style... Anything wrong with that? Sent from my iPhone using Home Brew

    Erlenmeyer vs Round Bottom Flask

Hey guys, sorry if this question has been asked before but I've searched and couldn't find anything on it. I'm wondering why does everyone use an erlenmeyer style flask rather than any old round bottom flask for their starters? I can find round bottoms for cheap around here and am wondering if I...

    Water report: Now what?

Well I've received my Ward Labs analysis, where do I go from here? Does anything look out of the ordinary? Sent from my iPhone using Home Brew

    Recirculation totally necessary for mash?

Well, I decided just to incur the expense and go for a pump. It may be another item to clean and maintain but I'd rather avoid any headaches of scorching or temp fluctuations. Sent from my iPhone using Home Brew

    Recirculation totally necessary for mash?

All great points! However, I think the concern of scorching while mashing is a fair one. Can I prevent that by simply cycling the wort manually? Even though making sweet wort is only a part of brewing, sweet wort isn't necessarily "burnt wort." Sent from my iPhone using Home Brew

    Recirculation totally necessary for mash?

No false bottom, just free hanging my bag... Commando. Sent from my iPhone using Home Brew

    Recirculation totally necessary for mash?

Well that answers my question pretty much- repeatability. If I'd be losing that without recirculating then I'd better just invest the expense. I'm trying to keep it simple, but I also want to keep repeatability through my process. Sent from my iPhone using Home Brew

    Recirculation totally necessary for mash?

I just wondered if there would be issues without constant recirculating because of the direct fire element in the kettle constantly firing to maintain the mash temp(scorching, heat stratification, etc.) Sent from my iPhone using Home Brew

    Recirculation totally necessary for mash?

Hey all, After a recent setback on getting a pump for my Ebiab setup, I'm starting to wonder if I really even need a pump. I'm trying to take the K.I.S.S. approach with this build, and am questioning if having a pump is a necessity. I understand recirculating the mash to keep temps even, but...

SS chugger pump $102 good deal?

Yes, the seller responded promptly with a refund. Not sure what was going on with that whole situation, but they were pleasant enough to deal with after my concerns. Now I just have to wait for another BobbyM sale.

    Cream of three crops problem

I had the exact same problem! Brewed BM's Co3 two weeks ago this Sunday. Steady fermentation stopped at 1.020 due to a really high mash temp(160f+ eesh, slow thermometer). So I threw some amylase enzyme in on Monday, dropped it down to 1.010 as of last night, so I'm cold crashing and kegging...

SS chugger pump $102 good deal?

That's pretty bizarre. Well, nerves got the best of me so I called and emailed asking for a cancellation/refund. I think I'm better off shelling my clams off to someone who can backup their products/services. No disrespect to the seller, but I'd feel much better going to a retailer with some...

SS chugger pump $102 good deal?

Dear Lord! Talk about fine print! WTF? And now when you go to the "pumps" section it doesn't show any available, so what, I bought the only one?! Why do I feel like I should have "All Day Sucker" stamped on my forehead right now? Well, what's the score boys? Ask for a refund OR hold my...

Well I just ordered one. The site looks legit enough, so we'll see how they do. Hopefully everything is good and I'll get a new pump for a pretty sweet price.

SS chugger pump $102 good deal?

Hey guys, I'm piecing together my Ebiab setup and need a pump so I googled chugger pump and this is what came up. Hopgoblin.com has these pumps for $102 plus shipping, which seems like a pretty good deal. What am I missing here? Has anybody bought from them? Is this something I should be all...

    Adding amylase to carbed keg

Has nobody ever done this before? I can't find anything on adding it to the keg, only to the secondary. Is it a "no-go"?? Sent from my iPhone using Home Brew

    Adding amylase to carbed keg

Long story short, I've got an Irish stout that's been kegged for a few months that finished off just too sweet drink, ending up at 1.022. Can I depressurize it, take the lid off and just dump some amylase enzyme in and then purge the oxygen out? Sent from my iPhone using Home Brew

    10 gallon Ebiab possible?

That's just what I wanted to know. I tried searching and couldn't find anything on a 10 gal ebiab setup and wanted to make sure my keggle conversion would work, thanks mate! Sent from my iPhone using Home Brew

    10 gallon Ebiab possible?

My keggle is 15.5 and I have a hard time seeing how I can fit the 10+ gallon preboil volume and the grain bill in there, unless you're sparging to top up to your preboil volume? Sent from my iPhone using Home Brew

    10 gallon Ebiab possible?

And you don't have any issues recirculating or heating that much volume? My main concern was needing a large enough pot to accommodate the grain bill and water for 10 gallon batches and not have it be ridiculously oversized for 5 gallon batches... Sent from my iPhone using Home Brew
