    Adding Fruit

Well I guess I didn't take another gravity reading because i assumed that adding all the fruit would raise the gravity. I did notice this morning though that some of the blackberries are white and floating on top, does that mean fermentation is going?

    Adding Fruit

So I brewed an American Wheat using US-05 dry yeast, primary two weeks and then I transferred it into my 5 gal secondary so I could clean my 6 gal carboy before I added my fruit. I let it sit in the secondary over night and bought Oregon blackberries today. I poured them into my 6 gal ( wanted...

    Dry hopping Question

I am brewing a NB Chinook IPA and I did notice that I dry hopped right after I racked to secondary. I see on most recipes that it says to let beer settle for a week or two before dry hopping in secondary, but just wondering what effects it will have. Would you recommend bottling after two or...

    best northern brewer ipa?

A bit off topic here though but I did notice that I dry hopped right after I racked to secondary. I see on most recipes that it says to let beer settle for a week or two before dry hopping in secondary, but just wondering what effects it will have. Would you recommend bottling after two or let...

    best northern brewer ipa?

Have the Chinook dry hopped in secondary right now. It's my second beer ever and super excited to bottle and taste in about 3 weeks! Smells great out of the airlock!

    First Homebrew!

So yesterday I cracked open a bottle of my first homebrew and was pleasantly surprised at how good it was! My Hefe was in the primary only a week before I bottled it (impatient noob). I only let it bottle condition a week and then threw one in the fridge for a couple hours again being...

Adding frozen fruit and extract to beer.

I am making an American wheat extract from NB I was thinking about adding grapefruit for something unique but am having second thoughts due to the acidity of them. I think I'm going to go with blueberries now, would 5 lbs be enough for 5 gal? Do u smush them up or add whole? Fresh or frozen?

    Grapefruit Wheat?

Should I scrape the white rhine off the inside of the peel or just throw it in? How many grapefruit peels?

    Grapefruit Wheat?

I'm brewing an American wheat beer extract from NB and want to add a unique fruit. Anyone have opinions on grapefruit? When would you add and how would you do it?

    Praise for NB

Just got started homebrewing (3rd batch) and all have been from NB. I haven't been able to try any yet as my first is still bottle conditioning but all the brews went very smoothly with easy directions. I bought the deluxe starter kit and came with everything but the brew pot. Very impressed...

    Hefe question

My Bavarian Hefe is in its last day of fermentation, I have kept it consistently at 60 degrees for the two weeks, just wondering if this temp is a tad low or just right? I tasted it and it seemed fairly plain but not bad flavored. Might just be the fact that it's not carbonated yet either.

    Low OG

the wort mixed well with the water after doing a partial boil?

    Low OG

There was about an inch left in the bottom. I'm thinking I didn't aerate as much as I should have. Do I need to vigorously shake the fermentor or what is the best technique for getting

    Low OG

When I brewed my Bavarian Hefeweizen the other night my OG read only 1.042. It is supposed to be about 1.050 according to my recipe. I did notice that because of how syrupy the LME was that I couldn't get the whole jug poured in. Would that have an effect on it? Any other reasons?

    Secondary for Hefe?

My Bavarian Hefeweizen is currently sitting in my primary but I am wondering if a secondary is recommended or needed for this beer. From what I have read 2-3 weeks primary should be enough before bottling, but just want to make sure!

    Good Beer Bottles To Use

Also anything from Bell's Brewery ie. Hopslam or Two Hearted have very easily removable labels and the beer is great! I have used Fat Tire and was very pleased as well!

    Good Beer Bottles To Use

Sierra Nevada bottles are nice and small and the labels fall off very easily with an overnight soap and water soak.

    Problem?

Yea looks a little darker than I was expecting, but it is my first homebrew so im not going to be too judgmental about it! Thanks for the reassurance! Cheers!
