    Ohio WTS: Electric HERMS Setup

Putting my brew rig up for sale. I just don't have the time to brew anymore. It's an all electric herms setup. All 316 hardware, kegs are bottom drained, chugger pumps, electric brewery clone control panel, Jaybird lvl 2 false bottom, electric brewery herms coil, counterflow plate chiller. I'll...

False Bottom BK Bottom Drain Keggle?

I'm currently building an E-HERMS setup. I'm using 3 keggles but instead of using a diptube I'm using a bottom drain for two main reasons: 1) Ease of cleaning in place 2) Improve efficiency due to less wort being left in the keg For the MT I plan on using the jaybird false bottom. Not...

Belgian Tripel with way to high fg

Bah I just read up and found out there is a lot more to calculating fg with a refractometer and using the excel file from morebeer it agrees with my hydrometer

Belgian Tripel with way to high fg

Ok I got out my hydrometer and it's saying my tripel is at 1.004...I don't understand how my refractometer is so far off....are they only good for measuring the og of the mash?

Belgian Tripel with way to high fg

Would it be alright if I went ahead and bottled this at 1.034? It seems to be done fermenting and the taste is actually pretty good. Add some sugar and bottle carbonate. I'm just worried that something may happen and it over carbonates the bottles and makes them explode

Belgian Tripel with way to high fg

5 gallon batch 11 lbs. Briess Pilsner Malt 3 lbs. Briess Vienna Malt 2.5 lbs. Invert Sugar WLP500 Trappist Ale Yeast. Made a 1.3L starter on a stir plate. I mashed in @ 152 and over the 60 minute mash it dropped to 148. I added the invert sugar about 48 hours into the fermentation once the...

Belgian Tripel with way to high fg

It's been 5 weeks since I brewed this batch...sorry if I misled you but after not having it drop for 3 weeks straight I went out and got more yeast and made another starter and pitched at high krausen and let it sit for almost another week and saw activity in the airlock but no reduction in...

Belgian Tripel with way to high fg

I'm stumped...made up a starter last weekend and pitched it and the airlock always had bubbles in it all week long...although i never actually saw it bubble. Went to take a reading with my refractometer and it hasnt even moved...should I just keep playing the waiting game? Or just go ahead and...

Belgian Tripel with way to high fg

Well I roused the yeast and brought the carboy upstairs but the gravity hasn't really changed. I'm going to make another starter and pitch the yeast to see where it takes me.

    Jaybird's Stainless False Bottoms

I browsed through about 15 pages and didn't see my question so hopefully I'm not being redundant. For my setup I'm using 3 kegs. Single Tiered E-HERMS system. For the mash tun and bk I am draining from the bottom so I will actually be cutting out the bottom of the keg and using the valve...

Belgian Tripel with way to high fg

I fermented it in my basement around 73 degrees, I can move it upstairs which is at 75-76. It was mashed at 154 F I always thought it was bad to keep the beer in the primary for too long of a time since trub will give it off flavors?

Belgian Tripel with way to high fg

I brewed a belgian tripel 2.5 weeks ago and I transferred it to the secondary this past weekend. The og was 1.083 and now the fg is 1.034 which is way to high. It hasn't changed for 4 days. The recipe looks like this 11 lbs. Briess Pilsner Malt (65% of grain bill) 3 lbs. Briess Vienna Malt...

    Relay for control panel

I'm in the process of buying parts for my enclosure. I'm mostly following Kal's setup for my build. My question is can I use this relay (http://www.amazon.com/dp/MAGNECRAFT/?tag=skimlinks_replacement-20). I know Kal and others have used this type...

American Wheat Beer Florida Orange Honey Wheat

Just brewed this and have it on tap. Nothing but compliments so far. Pretty similar to blue moon but not as fruity. Very refreshing

    Looking for bottles?

This would be good for the people who brew often (once a week or so) and bottle this would be a perfect option. A years supply of bottles.

    Looking for bottles?

My friend works at a glass company and sent me this link. Pretty good deal as most places charge around a buck per bottle. www.buyourbottles.com

    Weird discoloration of Belgian Witbier

yup exactly what I thought of when I saw it at first. Thats good to know. It'll be weird drinking a fruity wheat beer that looks so dark. It's in my unfinished basement where the light may come on for like 1 minute if someone has to find something in there...should I be that worried...
