    6 Gallon Better Bottle for Primary?

    You will need a 7.9 gallon fermenting bucket or larger for that kit. It definitely will not work in the 6 gal carboy as a primary.

    Star San: what you don't want to do with it

    My laminate countertops in the spare room are all spotted from the diluted star San. Oh well. Adds character !!

    You do need to top off but instead of water I would try and use another wine that is the same or similar. If you keep topping off with water you will dilute the flavor too much.

    I use cheap vodka in all my air locks. Never is a problem.

    I have 391 full ( mix of 12,17,and 22 ounce ) and about 200 waiting to be filled.

    That's what I meant-- sorry I didn't convey that. I clean with any and all -- Easy Clean, b-brite, PBW and star San. Then before bottling I sanitize with star- San

    I use priming sugar in the bucket. Plus this just isn't one batch that this is happening to. It has happened to bottles from 4 different batches. I'm not totally new to brewing -- have brewed about 50+ batches. I do use kits.

    I would like some ideas as to possible reasons I am having bottle bombs. I just had one today from a bottle that was bottled in November!! The bottle was a 17 ounce bottle-- bought new-- but has been used on other homebrews. The bombs show no favorites though-- have had 12-17 and 22 ounce blow...

    Are my bottles going to explode?

    I have found Sam Adams bottle are not good to re-use. They crack when capping. They have cracked when opening the bottle when ready to drink. We stay away from them. JMHO
